A loud knock on my door interrupted my actions. My eyes widened as I looked at the chain of linen sheets I'd tied together that was currently lying on the floor.
That was the best plan I was able to come up with. Tie bed sheets together and use them as a rope to scale down the castle and escape. I'd been blaring music as loud as I could to try and distract their ears from picking up the sounds of what I was doing.
Leaping over the bed I paused the music before creeping carefully to the door and pressing my ear against it.
"Who is it?" I asked nervously.
"Demetri."
I gingerly opened the door just enough so that I could see him. "Yes?"
"As much as Felix and I may love Taylor Swift, others in this castle do not and we respectfully ask that you keep the noise down," he smiled.
"Who's annoyed by the music?"
"Alec and Jane."
"Ok," I nodded, shutting the door and proceeding to walk straight over to the speakers and press play.
Very quickly, another knock sounded on the door.
"I'm not turning it down, Demetri!"
An even more aggressive knock sounded on the door and I huffed before walking straight up to it and yanking it open. "I said no," I snapped before gasping. It was not Demetri standing there, it was a livid Jane.
"Turn. It. Off."
"Ask me nicely," I sassed, crossing my arms.
"This is me asking nicely," she hissed.
All I did was roll my eyes, but that was enough to send her to another level of rage.
She leaned in close to me and growled. "Turn it off now or I'll show you how my gift really works."
My eyes widened. "You're not allowed to do that," I stuttered.
"Perhaps not. But I do have my limits and you are testing them, human."
I mulled over my options. Perhaps pissing off Jane wouldn't serve me any good. What would happen if she barged further into the room and saw my makeshift rope?
"Fine," I relented. "I'll turn it off."
I went to close the door and she placed a single finger on it, stopping me from closing it fully.
"Disrespect me again human and I'll really give you something to sulk about."
"Noted," I agreed, before fully shutting the door and walking over to the speaker and turning off the music. Huffing I threw myself down onto the bed. I hadn't been able to make the rope long enough. Which put my escape attempt on a temporary pause.
Standing up I flung open the window and looked down. I was definitely too high up for what I'd made. Groaning I slammed the window closed again and looked around. This was not going to plan.
A soft knock sounded on my door. "Oh my goodness, what is this, musical door knocks, I just want to be left alone," I mutter to myself as I open the door. "What now?" I ask as I open the door to see Alec standing there. "Oh. It's you."
Alec raises his eyebrow at me but doesn't give me the satisfaction of a reply.
"I've come here to request that you keep this door shut for the next hour," he formally asks.
"Why?"
"We're going to feed," he explained.
"Can't I get some food as well?" I glare.
