Jia managed to calm herself down quite quickly, not wanting to let what she heard a few minutes earlier affect her so much. She looks in the mirror as she steps out the stall and notices how red and puffy her eyes were from crying.

"Get a grip." she whispers to herself as she wipes under her eyes harshly before zipping up her coat up.

The last thing she was going to do was show any signs of weakness around him, or anyone.

Jia decides to go up to the top deck, despite the bitter cold and strong winds she didn't want to face earlier.

The first thing she sees was Sunoo and Jungwon laughing hysterically at the very front of the deck as they got sprayed with water from the waves.

She smiles as she walks towards them, and upon noticing Jia, the two boys immediately run towards her.

"Jia! Wait- have you been crying?" Sunoo's bright smile immediately disappears as he notices Jia's bloodshot eyes.

"What's happened?" Jungwon's eyebrows are immediately furrowed together in concern as he notices the girls sad expression.

"Nothing- I'm okay, honestly." Jia says quietly as she links arms with Sunoo and tries to walk across the deck.

However, Jungwon's hand stops her as he grabs hold of her arm. "Jia don't lie to me, has something happened?"

"Jungwon I-"

"Jia. Tell me." Jungwon's expression turns into an frustrated one as the tone of his voice turns serious.

"It was just Seok and Riki, I heard them say some stupid stuff about me and Sunoo but it's not a big deal." Jia explains quietly, avoiding eye contact with both of them.

"Wait- what?" Sunoo says, a hurt expression appearing on his face. "What did they say about us?"

"Riki didn't say anything about you, but Seok called us social rejects." Jia says, feeling embarrassed at his comment as she felt her cheeks heat up.

"What did Riki say?" Jungwon asks, and Jia felt reluctant to give him an answer. She didn't know why she felt the need to protect him, but for some reason, she did.

"It's nothing bad-"

"Jia, tell us." Sunoo says as he puts his hands on her shoulders and turns her towards him.

"He called me a wretch." Jia mumbles

"What- what even is that." Sunoo asks, confusion washing over his face as he looks at Jungwon, who has an exasperated expression on his face.

Jungwon pinches the bridge of his nose before putting an arm around Jia. "Riki is an idiot, just ignore him."

"I plan to."

"Jia, hey!" Riki runs up to Jia that night when they had arrived back at the campsite and were preparing food for dinner. Jia was cutting up vegetables with a few other class members, whilst others prepared meat and noodles.

Jia didn't respond to Riki, and he thought that maybe she hadn't heard him. She did look very concentrated on cutting the vegetables up in equal sizes- being the perfectionist she was.

"Jia? You okay?" Riki asks as he taps on her shoulder to get her attention.

She shrugs his hand off, not bothering to look away from the cutting board as she continues to chop up the carrot in front of her.

"Why are you ignoring me?" Riki asks, confused at why she was acting the way she was.

"I'm busy, Riki." Jia replies bluntly, to which Riki frowns at her response.

"You're just cutting up a carrot, I wouldn't consider that important-"

"We'll it's more than what you're doing to help! Stop being useless and go do something instead of pestering me!" Jia snaps as she turns to face him. Riki blinks a few times, his mouth hanging open slightly at Jia's sudden outburst towards him.

"Why the hell are you acting like this?" Riki asks, feeling concerned at her sudden change in behaviour.

"I don't owe you an explanation, leave me alone." Jia mumbles as she turns away from him.

Riki huffs, feeling annoyed at her snappiness towards him. "So you're going back to being uptight and rude like you were when I first met you? I cant say I missed this side of you very much Jia." Riki says as he leans closer to her.

"I said leave me alone Riki, I meant it." Jia says, her voice shaking slightly, which Riki fails to notice.

"You're exhausting Jia. I mean, I seriously thought we had made progress- I thought we were becoming friends." Riki says as he crosses his arms and shoots her a disappointed look.

If Jia hadn't heard what she did earlier that day, she probably would have believed him. However, she felt nothing but anger as he stood there and tried to make her feel bad when he was the reason she was acting like this in the first place.

"That's funny Riki- because so did I." Jia says, letting out a small laugh, much to Riki's confusion.

"I'm being serious Jia. I thought we were friends."

"Oh really? Are you sure you'd want to be friends with someone like me? Are you sure you'd want to be friends with a wretch?" Jia says, turning to glare straight into his eyes, which suddenly flash with realisation.

"Jia, I-"

"I advise you leave me alone Riki. I have no interest in continuing this conversation any further." Jia cuts him off, before throwing the chopped up carrot in the pan beside her.

Riki nods in response, before quickly turning away- only to turn back around a few seconds later.

"Jia-"

Riki stops himself, taking a deep breath before continuing.

"I'm sorry, I mean it."

Jia doesn't respond, and that was okay with Riki. He walks away, not looking back at Jia once, as he feels nothing but guilt wash over him.
