Bathing, brushing and sitting my hair up, going through my closet to find the perfect white dress, brushing my teeth, washing my face and finally looking at my reflexing in the mirror. I looked okay. Not bad, but not perfect. It was hard with all these new confusing feelings: I was constantly worried that my stomach looked fat in the clothes I warring or that someone touching my hair would ruin all the hard work I had put into it. I missed my old form. I didn't have to worry about anything, I could feel what I wanted to feel, which was usually happy. Of course, I still thought about looks, but I didn't want to almost cry over it. Ugh, I hated this human body and all the feelings there came with it.

There were six of us: Henry, Frank, Edward, Ida, Ella and me, Marie. We were heavens guardians. We were given human bodies there resembled our angle forms. We were angles sent on a very important mission. We were to travel to the edge of the world where the passing point from the human's world to hell would be and there we would take Lucifer, Satan, ruler of the underworld, back to heaven where God will give him the proper punishment. You might be asking why there weren't more of us – which is a good question. You see Lucifer is already captured, he is in a big box or cage or something – it wasn't specified how he was captured, just that he was – and we are to take him home.

When we were given the mission we spent the first week reading about Humans and how they are both mentally and physically different from angels. Which were things I thought I would be able to handle when I read about them but now all I can think about is how extremely annoying it is to have nothing to wear because everything makes me look fat. The next week we read about Lucifer. Lucifer was God's favourite angel – even though God claims that everybody is equal to him. Lucifer's appearance was beautiful and dazzling. Some say that if humans saw him, they would sin (by masturbating) to such an extent that they would go straight to hell. Jesus denied those rumours. Lucifer was one of the few angles who worked in the throne room with God, because not only was Lucifer gorgeous, he was also extremely intelligent. God, Lucifer and Jesus were all very close. They met together frequently to share ideas and make plans. They were in perfect harmony. That was until Jesus and God had a meeting without Lucifer and Lucifer became so jealous that he began to protest against God. God eventually threw him out of heaven – which ended up being a bad idea - because Lucifer made a world for himself. He made hell where everybody would go if they sinned enough. But not that long ago a huge war broke out between heaven and hell and heavens warriors managed to capture Lucifer, but God didn't want him to come back to heaven, I guess that he wanted Lucifer to calm down before taking him back to heaven. Now, a good century later, God wants him back and Henry, Frank, Edward, Ida, Ella, and me, Maria were the ones to bring him back.

"Maria!" I heard Henry call. He was the leader of this investigation and a very good leader if you ask me. He was able to make everyone listen when they needed to and always had a plan for every situation. "Are you coming, we have to leave now!" he knocked on the hotel room door. "I am coming!" I said, before taking one more look in the mirror, deciding that I wouldn't be able to do anything more about my looks and walked out the door. We were all affected by our human emotions and therefore we made a deal that whatever we say to each other down here on earth will be forgotten once we got back to heaven. At one point Edward said "bastard" to a human who almost drove him over. Edward prayed all night. I found it outrageous when it happened, and I would almost not want to agree to the deal about forgetting about it. Until I, at some point, felt a wired feeling in my lower stomach. A tickling almost nice feeling. I felt myself wanting to satisfy the feeling of wanting to reach a hand down there just to see what would happen. I didn't do it. I quickly recognised it as being "horny" and knowing that was a huge sin in the human world I stopped myself. After that experience, I felt able to forgive Edward for saying a swear word.

We walked out of the hotel and up to a car we had rented. "Frank" Henry called. Frank looked up from where he was standing. Henry threw the car keys to Frank "will you do the honour of driving?" Frank threw a smile back at him. "I would love to". Frank was the brain. He could crack any code he was given and was able to see patterns in everything. We all got in the car. Me in the far back with Ida, Ella and Edward in front of me and Frank driving with Henry by his side.

"Frank?" Ella asked. Frank looked at her in the rear-view mirror with a smile. "Yes, Ella?" he questioned back at her. Ella was the spy. She was tiny and very flexible. She had a laser-like vision and could spy on anyone without them knowing. Ella looked almost nervous about the thing she was about to say. "Can I drive?" she asked. We all looked at Frank to see his reaction, but before he could say anything Henry stepped in and said: "No, Ella. It is far too dangerous for you to drive and you don't even have the proper driver's licence". Ella looked down apologetic. "You are right, I am forgetting my place, my apologies". I was only able to see her neck, but even from here, I could see the sadness she spread. I thought if I was in charge I would have given her permission to drive. We all stayed quiet for the next couple of hours. The time I had been on earth the more I understood humans. They were complex creatures. When I compared the relationship they had with each other to the relationship I had with my friends, I almost wish I was a human. They could talk about things we weren't even allowed to think about. We only talked to each other about necessary things, like who's driving the car, or what hotel are we staying at. Don't get me wrong being an angel was one of the best things in the world. I mean you had big fluffy wings and lived in heaven how much better could it get?

We sat in the car for hours. Driving was one of the most boring things I've tried as a human. You just sit still, for hours at a time doing nothing but sitting with a straight back and a smile on your face while you wait for the others to flash you a smile so you can flash one back.

Finally, for what felt like hours – and most likely was – Henry spoke up. "Where would you like to sleep tonight?" he asked Frank. "It will be our last night before we reach hell" he added calmly – probably because he didn't want any of us to tense up. I did tense up.

"Where are we?" Edward asked. Edward was one of those people who are usually really quiet but would have an extremely well-trained body. He was really big and people would get scared of him if it wasn't for his angel-like appearance.

"We are in Las Vegas" Henry answered calmly. I could see Edwards's face speculate over where he wanted to sleep.

"Anywhere will be fine" he finally answered. Henry smiled back at Edward and gave some directions to Frank about where to go. We ended up at a nice 2-star hotel. As angels, we didn't have a lot of money and needed to make some compromises. When we all stepped out of the car. Looking around, it was clear that we didn't fit in. We were all dressed in white with cross necklaces hanging around our necks. Our hair was slightly curly and we were of course wearing no makeup. We all had a black bible in our hands which was a contrast to all the white we were wearing. People were staring at us.

"Come on," Henry said with a smile. We all followed him into the hotel lounge where Ida went to the front desk to order rooms. Ida was extremely good at communicating with humans. Everybody liked her from the moment she opened her mouth. She also spoke over 55 languages which came in handy now and then. The hotel looked slightly sketchy. The wallpaper was falling apart and all the people coming in and out were exchanging money. The girls in here had coloured their hair and wearing very reviling clothing. Ida came back with the keys to our hotel rooms. There were two sets of keys, one for Ida, Ella and me and one for Henry, Frank and Edward. From the corner, I could see the receptionist raise an eyebrow at us. I don't think we were her usual customers.

We weren't her usual customers. The paper-thin walls made sure to tell us that. The moans and screams were coming from everywhere. I felt slightly disgusted. Sex for these people was more important than going to heaven. It was impossible to sleep. We were all laying with our eyes open, but too embarrassed, by the sounds, to say anything to each other. The guilty pleasure sounds stopped around three o'clock. I had multiple times thought about going over to one of the moaning rooms and telling them about God and Jesus Christ. But the consequences were too big (seeing a man's private parts and being thrown out of the hotel), so I decided against it.
