7. Dead or Alive?

Zane took the letter thanking her. He opens the door. He couldn't believe what he saw, he drops the letter.

Timeskip

In the morning, everyone gathered around the table, but one person.
They talked to each other, not knowing why Sensei Wu called them.
"Listen, students! Something has happened." It went all quiet when he spoke up. „I called you for a reason. As you can see, someone of you is missing."

"Wait...right. Where is Cole?" Jay asked. He looked towards the corridor of their rooms and ran towards Cole's room.
"Jay! Wait, I am not finished...yet," Sensei calls after him, but Jay already vanished into the corridors.

After a couple of minutes, Jay came back. He was very pale. It was like he saw a ghost, but worst. He looked up, seeing everyone looking at him concerned. Then everyone looked at each other, then at Sensei Wu.

„Please calm down. I don't want anyone to see that themself. It was morning when I found out. But sadly I have to tell you...Cole is...gone." It went silent. Nobody said a word.
Then someone spoke up: „But...but how? It can't be right?", Nya said almost crying. She looks around at Sensei Wu.

Nya's Pov
No. It can't be. I must be dreaming a bad dream. I will wake up anytime now... right? „Is this some kind of joke? Because this isn't funny anymore. Please tell me-" „Nya...this is no joke. I wish I could tell you otherwise..." Jay said. I can't believe it. I run back to my room, hearing the others calling after me, but I block it. As I stumble into my room I close the door and sit down at the door. I don't want anyone with me right now. I just need my time alone now.

Jay's Pov.
Just now I can't believe what I saw. I saw him lying there...on the ground...motionless. But I still don't believe it. He is not dead. I got this feeling and I gotta talk to Nya. She was very upset. Nya and I have been dating for the last few years, and I've got to be there for her. Thinking about Cole...He is my best friend...but I know that there is something wrong. Zane just showed us a letter from Cole, that Alegria gave him. Zane gave it to me when I was...I mean, I am his best friend. Maybe I could talk to Nya about this, since she doesn't know about the letter yet, and since I am her boyfriend.
So now I am heading to her room. I can hear her cry. I knock slightly. „Nya? I know you are in there. Please let me in. I have got maybe some news for you." I can hear her stop crying.
„Please just leave me alone Jay. I appreciate it when you want to comfort me, but I just want some time alone." She answered me. „I-...ok...but if there is sth I can help you with or what you need, you know where to find me," I say, leaving, heading to my room. I got a bad feeling about this, but maybe I can not always be there for her.

As soon as I got into my room, I close the door and sit on my bed. There must be sth in this stupid letter. Maybe a hint or sth. I can sense it.
I take it out of my pocket and read it over and over again.

"Hey Alegria, meet me at 12 am. Even if I still don't trust you, I want to talk. Let's meet at Chen's Noodles. Please come, it is important. Now I will end the letter. Of course. Telling you this is hard but... Don't show this to anyone. Especially not Zane. Alternatively, he could suspect me. Do not talk to Skylor, I can't tell you why."

Something is wrong with the letter. I know that. Cole would not write a letter like this. He probably would not even write a letter. I search for hints that would be sus. It stands in there where they were supposed to meet. But that's not it. Maybe a code or something like that is hidden in there.

I sit here now for a couple of hours when suddenly I hear someone entering my room. I turn around and see Nya. She sits next to me. I wrap my arms around her and show her the letter. „This is the letter that Cole left behind before he...went," I say. She reads it.

It has been three days now since Cole went missing and two and a half-day since I showed Nya the letter. She is not sad anymore. Every day she would sit and walk all around my room just to read that letter and analyse it for hidden hints.
Alegria didn't come out of her room. Sensei talked to her and said, that she felt responsible for what happened to Cole.
Kai wants to play video games since he didn't want to think about it, and I...I am just watching Nya.

Suddenly Nya stops walking, turning to me. There was a glowing in her eyes. „Jay...I think that I found something." She says, sitting next to me. She used a pencil and draw something on the letter. After that, she shows the letter to me. What I saw, was unbelievable. This could be good news for a long time. I took Nya's hand and walked out of the room. I have to show this to the others. Why was I so blind?! I could have seen it by myself too. Maybe we would have already found him.

As I walk into the main room Kai was playing video games. Lloyd was watching him and sipping tea. Everyone has their way.

I walk up to Lloyd and sit next to him, while Nya goes to Kai. He stopped playing video games when Nya told him something.
„Hey, Lloyd! You need to see this. It is very important." I said and show him the letter that Nya had edited. At first, he looked confused and took the letter. When he realized what this could mean, he stood up, looking at me. „We have to tell this Sensei Wu and start looking for him. We need to find him." He said.

Authors Pov.
When all the Ninjas and their master gathered, Sensei Wu announced that Cole might not be gone. He said that Nya and Jay have found something in the letter, that could prove that Cole is not dead.

"When you circle the first letters of all sentences in the letter this you would find," Jay said, showing the others  the letter:

"Hey Alegria, meet me at 12 am. Even if I still don't trust you, I want to talk. Let's meet at Chen's Noodles. Please come, it is important. Now I will end the letter. Of course. Telling you this is hard but... Don't show this to anyone. Especially not Zane. Alternatively, he could suspect me. Do not talk to Skylor, I can't tell you why."

They wrote all the letters on a blank sheet and what they read was unbelievable:
"HELP; NOT DEAD"

It went silent as if they would be in the graveyard.
