Andrew's POV
~~~
Where am I? It appears that I'm in the forest near my workplace. it's dark, cold, and there is no sound around me.
I can't be too far from town.
As I start to walk, I wonder why I'm out here, or how. no cuts, no bruises, nobody is around, I must have walked. but why? The spot I had been laying in was molded into the shape of my body as if I had been there for days, rotting away.
As I tried to remember what happened I wandered my way onto a sidewalk and into the street. I stand in the street and peer into the darkness, there is little glow coming only from the street light that buzzes above me. I turn my head to the left, I see few houses. I turn my head to the right and the road leads into darkness with few street lights lining the road. I ponder for a while and decide that the I should go down the road away from the houses. I'm not sure what it is, but the road feels familiar, it beckons until I finally let my legs move and I walk forward.
After many minutes of walking, I see headlights in the distance. at first it was comforting, but when I saw the driver, I saw nothing but a dark faceless shadow, with piercing white eyes that shine so bright I turn away. With the car being gone, and the darkness resuming it's previous position, I feel hollow, as if the life had been drained from me. I shake my head and keep moving.
Left foot, right foot. walking, you've done this for quite some time now.
I continue, suddenly it feels like a ton of bricks have settled in the bottom of my stomach. I turn around and that car is sitting in the road. I quickly pick up the pace and before I know it my legs were carrying me away, the wind blowing through my hair. After what seemed like forever I finally reach the doors. I never thought I'd be this happy to see that damn neon sign. I push open the familiar glass doors to see nobody, not uncommon for a night shift crew, at least here anyway. As I start walking through the store, I shout "Rose?!","Rosalie?", "Rose?"
Something isn't right.
I walk through the aisles and notice a mess.
Something is definitely fucky.
The floors are covered in soapy water, the bucket that once contained the liquid was laying on it's side. I walk a little further, making sure not to slip. there are canned goods strewn all about the floor.
Cleaning this up is going to be a bitch.
A putrid smell fills my nostrils. I sniff once more the smell is coming from the deli. As I approach the deli counter I notice some sliced up rancid meat. I hop over the counter to follow a trail of blood that I hoped was animal blood. At the end of the trail lays Jake. I know he's gone by the glassy dead look in his eyes, almost sympathetic really. I drift away into a daze.
I snap out of it when when a metallic smell fills my head. I begin to panic. I hear a slow eerie chuckle come over the intercom, followed by a horrifying screech let out by rose.
"Andrew!" Rose yells.
My heart stops and I begin to run, I slip in Jake's blood.
Fuck!
I gather myself up off the floor, and run to the front desk to call 911. As I run I see a bloody pile of human of what I can only assume to be Jen and Mike. I reach the counter and press the panic button five or six times just to be sure. The intercom came on and I hear a man saying, "Nice try." Followed by deep laugh and Rose's horrid wailing. I picked up the phone. The phone has a dial tone.
"I've got you now, you son of a bitch." I yell, throwing my arms up.
I quickly dial 911 and it rang and rang until the sheriff picked up.
"Three of my co-workers are dead, and one is being held hostage!" I try to keep my voice even, but fail with a nice voice crack.
The sheriff began laughing, his voice got deeper as he went on.
"Nice try, kid." Sheriff says. Although I'm pretty sure he is not the sheriff anymore.
I look down and the line is cut.
Where the fuck is he?
Running past blood and severed limbs I reach the break room door and try the knob. That doesn't work so I try beating down the door. The laughs getting louder, though Rose's screams over power the laughter.
"Help!" Rose shrieks.
"I'm almost in!" I say to reassure her.
My foot goes through the door and it falls down.
Great, another door.
I turn the handle on the boss' door, and to my surprise it isn't locked. I find my boss dead a pencil shoved through each eye. Rose is tied to the boss' leather chair screaming.
I look around the room. Nobody is in here except Rose. I reach into my pocket for my knife and free her bloody hands from the rope. Rose looks behind me and lets out a quiet yelp. Before I could even question, I was hit and the floor soon met with my face.
