Shoto Todoroki|| Discovering The Quirk

Child's Name: Taijo Todoroki

     It was a late night and the Todoroki household just finished their family night. You, your husband, and your son had just watched a children's movie. The movie was nice, but it wasn't really your cup of tea. But the other two were immensely immersed the whole time. You would often look over and giggle at how they looked while watching.

     After the movie, you took your son to the bathroom to bathe him. As you watched him play with the water, you thought to yourself. He looked like the spitting image of Shoto. He had his hair, his eye colour, even the same lost look in his eyes. He looked so much like him, that you wondered if he had gotten anything from you. 

"Taijo. Are you ready for Mommy to clean you?" You said, getting up to grab a wash cloth. You looked over to Taijo, who was splashing in the water. You grabbed the wash cloth and knelt down by the bathtub. "Are you ready, Tai?" 

     He only nodded. Taijo wasn't known for speaking. When he was younger, the fact that he wasn't speaking used to scare you. You sent him to speech and developmental therapy only to be told that nothing was wrong with his brain. It was just simply that he didn't want to talk. Now that you think about it, he really was just like Shoto.

"Hey, Mommy?" He said softly.

"Oh. Yes?" You said, the sound of your son's voice still shocking you. He usually only spoke when something important was needed to be said. "Is something wrong?"

"Do I have grandparents?"

"Huh?" You stared at him. He looked back up at you with a curious look. "Grandparents? Where is this coming from?"

"Well at kindergarten today, we learned about grandparents day. A lot of kids talked about their grandparents." He grabbed the cup and poured water over himself. "I was just wondering."

     You sighed. He was bound to wonder at some point. Taijo never met his grandparents from your side because they died a few years before his birth. And he never met Shoto's parents, because he didn't want Taijo seeing his grandmother in a hospital. Never met his father because he wasn't exactly the nicest of people. When Shoto introduced you to him, he and Shoto argued. His father told him that he shouldn't marry you because your Quirks didn't match. 'You couldn't make a strong successor.'

     Fuck that. Taijo is strong because he is a mixture of two very strong people. It doesn't matter if your quirks don't match. He's going to meet Taijo and know that he is going to be stronger than he ever was.

"I'll talk with Daddy and see if we can work something out, okay?" You said, hiding your spitefulness behind a kind smile.

     He nodded and turned around so you could begin scrubbing him. You went to put the wash cloth to his body but instantly you snatched your hand back. Something hot had burned your hand. You went to reach for Taijo, but once again you withdrew your hand with haste. He turned to look at you, wondering what was going on. Instead of panicking, you quickly called to your husband.

"Shoto! Honey, c'mere! Quick!" You yelled.

"Is everything okay?" He promptly appeared in the doorway of the bathroom, concern the leading emotion on his face. 

"Shoto. I think Taijo just activated his quirk." You said. Your eyes never left your son. Shoto then looked at Taijo.

"H-He did? Well what is it?"

"Come here. Put your hand near him." You vigorously motioned him to come closer.

     Shoto stepped into the bathroom and stood next to you. You looked up at him and he looked down at you. His face still read 'Is our son okay?'. You nodded your head towards the little boy. He knelt beside you and slowly brought his hand to Taijo. Instantly he brought his hand back. He looked at you with shock.

"I know, right?!" You almost squealed. "His body just produces this immense heat!"

"He must've gotten some version of my fire half." He looked back to his mini version. "How did you do it?"

     Taijo was quiet. He stared at his arms. Then he looked at Shoto with teary eyes. Then he cried. Instantly you reached for him. The heat was gone, but now was replaced with this extreme cold. You hesitated, but grabbed your son and held him while he cried.

"What's wrong, Tai?" Shoto asked, stroking his wet hair.

"I hurt you and Mommy. I didn't mean to." He sobbed hard.

"You didn't hurt us, Taijo. Look. We're okay. Me and Daddy were just shocked." You grabbed the nearby towel and began to dry him off. His crying died down and you helped him into his clothes.

     To make Taijo feel better, you told him that he could sleep in you and Shoto's room for the night. He sniffed and climbed in between you and Shoto. You hummed to him while stroking his hair, helping Taijo fall asleep. Within ten minutes, Taijo fell fast asleep.

"Hey, Shoto?" You whispered. "Are you still awake?"

"Yeah." He said.

"I think Taijo got both side of your quirk. When I pulled him out the bath, he was freezing cold. Like abnormally cold." You rolled up your sleeve and showed Todoroki your frostbite mark. It was on the inside of you arm and it kind of hurt.

"This is from when you held him? Are you okay?" He said, examining your arm.

"Yeah. I'm fine, but I think we should take Taijo to the doctor's office. Just so they can tell us what to do about his quirk. Or atleast how he activates it."

     Shoto nodded and it got silent again. You were thinking of a way to ask him about meeting with his father. "Hey, Shoto?"

"Yeah?"

"Can we, uhm...Can we go see Endeavor?"
