The untouched store

Along my walk home i found this store that seemed to have not been raided because of the fact it was in an alleyway.

I walk inside and im amazed at how much food there is. Shelves were full of packaged items that wouldnt go bad any time soon.

I had to let out a laugh because i havent seen this much food in what felt like a lifetime.

"Theres no way nobody has seen this place yet" i say to myself.

I hear footsteps.

I pull my gun out and have it cocked and loaded and in the span of a second its pointed towards a man about 19 years of age.

"W-who are you!" Is all i can think to say. Ive never actually seen someone and had to interact with them in this sort of way.

"My name is Dominic Strayler. My family owns this store and we have kept gaurd of it, therefore nobody has had the chance to do a full raid."

"Well im Emilie Baker, my family is gone and im on my own. Is there any chance i can get food or supplies from this shop?" I start to regain confidence, and seeing that he has no form of defense against me other than his fists i lower my gun.

He seems to think for a minute about if i could have anything from this store and finally takes a breath and tells me "i suppose you could take a look and take whatever but the only thing you will have to repay me with is a map. Thats all i need."

I think for a moment.

"A map? Why do you need a map?"

"I never said we had this store long. We had moved here and opened this store then 2 weeks after is when the government fell. Im trying to find somewhere but dont know how to get there and i need to be able to get back here."

"Oh. Well ive lived here my whole life and know my way around so i guess you could have my map" i state while pulling the only map i had out of my bag.

I hand it to Dominic and his face lights up.

"Thank you so much emilie you a life saver. Take whatever you need."

"Thank you!"

I grab a few items for supplies and a tarp then move back over to the isles of food that will be good for a long time. I grab a bunch of things with a grin on my face and say thanks to Dominic once again and leave.

I didnt run into any people or hear anything but the wind.

It was so peaceful, this was my favourite part of my current situation because i was able to feel so at peace even though the world around me has fallen.
I saw  a few deer eating in a park and squirrels jumping from tree to tree, they are probably so at peace and live a life they always wanted.

The sky was so blue and as the sun fell from the sky and the moon came, you wouldnt have believed there were that many stars up there.

Some nights i just lay outside on the roof of a house thats near my hideout and stargaze.
Its memorizing how many balls of burning gas are up there.

When i get back to my base i just go straight to bed and the second my head hits my beat up pillow, im out cold.
