Nagito POV
A killing game. Me and my ultimate classmates are being forced to participate. Oh well, with such bad luck, something good is sure to be right around the corner...
It would be great, the opportunity to spread such hope, but theres one downside. Hajime Hinata. A reserve course. Why is he even here with us? He's nothing more than a stepping stone, and I'm going to make sure he knows that.
I went to bed after we were dismissed by Monokuma. A black and white bear that seems to be linked to whoever kidnapped us. I was about to close my eyes when I suddenly I heard a loud scream. I couldn't help it as a smile krept onto my face. I quickly adjusted myself before running towards the source. I looked into the window of the cabin it came from. Ugh. It was only that worthless reserve course. I was about to turn around when something else caught my attention.
Hajime: "*huff* I'll end this damn thing. I won't let them hurt you Chiaki..."
Hmm. What makes him think he can even do such a thing? He better not think he can get close to an ultimate like Nanami because of it. After all he's still just talentless. Well at least when I put my plan into motion I can have him die instead of an ultimate... I should go before I'm seen. I headed back to my cabin, this time actually falling asleep. In the morning I headed to the restaurant with everyone else. Of course mr. Reserve course was last. I scoffed at him causing him to crinkle his eyebrows before his attention was grabbed by Soda. Man, they really are being too generous to him.
After I gratefully took a plate of food from Teruteru, I headed back to my room. I should finish the note for Byakuya. Each detail has to be perfect afterall. After writeing the letter dozens of times, making every speck look just right, I was snapped out of thought by the night time announcement. I hadn't realized it was so late already... I sighed as I slipped the note into an envelope. I carefully slipped out of the door of my cabin making sure nobody was there. I made sure only to step on the nails, making the least noise possible. Just as I was about to slip it under Byakuya's door I was caught off guard.
Hajime: "Nagito? Is that you?" Damn reserve course.
Nagito: "What do you need." He seemed to jump a little at my voice. So pathetic.
Hajime: "Sorry... I just wanted to warn you, Soda took some of the nails out of the boards... thats all.." He took a step away but just as he did, the board he stepped on well through, takeing the one I was on down with it. "Waugh!" I heard him yell as we splashed into the water below. I put my hands above my head as a few of the boards fell down over top of us. I looked over when I heard a loud thud. Hajime was under the water, his head was bleeding. Ugh even if he is a reserve course, he doesn't deserve such a hopeless death...
I pulled his unconscious body out of the water, causing him to spit up some of it at me. I groaned in disgust as I propped him up on my shoulder. The water was waist deep and there was no easy way to get back up, especially carrying him around. Nobody seemed to wake up from the noise either. Then to top it off, the letter that had taken me so long was sopping wet. Such horrible luck. I started to drag him along, seeing if there was a shallow spot we could get out at.
I pulled Hajime through a dark tunnel until we reached a small cave. I took out my monopad, which fortunately did survive, using it to light up the small area. It was extremely cold down here. I could have handled it but Hajime was visibly shaking. Seeing him look like that, I don't know why but it struck something in me. Maybe anger..? but not at him.. more at... myself....
I sighed and pulled him closer to me, wrapping my jacket around his shoulder. He leaned into me and stopped shaking. As soon as its day I'll head back to get help from the others. I know I should stay awake but I feel so tired... I leaned into Hajime as well as the exhaustion took over.
When I woke up Hajime was shaking again but this time his skin was burning up. There was dried blood running down the side of his face and he was visible sweating. Sunlight was just starting to stream in from the entrance, lighting up his unusually pale skin. He doesn't look good. I need to get him to Mikan immediately. Wait a minute... Why? He's just a reserve course... I could take him out right now... But somehow... It feels wrong... I lifted my hand to his shoulder, gently shaking him.
Nagito: "I don't know if you can hear me but I'm going to pick you up, okay?" Suddenly his eyes snapped open and his voice cracked as he spoke out.
Hajime: "Na-agito! Are you okay?! I'm sorry! I should-" *cough cough* He was cut off as he started coughing into his elbow then slumped over. "Ugh... my head..." I gritted my teeth as I moved along side him, stopping him from falling over any further. He shakily slipped his arm over my shoulder and I put my own around his waist to support him. He stumbled as I gently helped him wade into the water. He flinched as he touched it. I guess I didn't realize it was cold. I went to try and go back through the tunnel we came from but now it was completely flooded which means we'd have to swim the long way around. I don't know if I could carry him that far though.
Hajime: "Just leave me here. We can't both make it can we." You looked up at me with bags under his eyes. He looked awful. "Get the... oth.." He fell over, almost knocking me down. Dammit this isn't good. He was in bad condition, He needs medical help immediately. I'd have to us what I've learned when assisting Mikan, and when she had to help take care of me. I took out my pocket knife and sliced it along his head injury, removing the infected skin. I ripped off the neck of my T shirt since it had the least contact with the water, and pressed it against the now open wound. This won't last long though, he needs antibiotics.
Normally I would have left him to die but... something was stopping me. I shook my head. How was I going to get him out of here? I might just have to trust my luck on this one. I turned to him shaking him so his eyes slowly opened.
Nagito: "I'm going to lift you onto my shoulders, do you think you can hold on?" He nodded. I turned around allowing him to climb on and I wrapped my jacket around his waist and my neck as extra support. I began to wade through the water, it getting deeper as I walked farther from the cave. It stopped lowering just as it reached my chin. Good... I kept walking until I could start to see the shore of another beach, with a building that lay beyond it. I think this is an island we have yet to unlock but that doesn't matter now.
I entered the beach house and laid Hajime on a couch inside. There was a cooler full of drinks where I grabbed a water bottle for him.
Nagito: "I'll be right back to see if I can find anything. Don't move." He shakily nodded before I turned away and started jogging towards a tunnel. It took me through to a diner and a road, which I followed to a pharmacy. Thank god for my luck. I picked up an armful of antibiotics and anything I thought would help before I ran back to Hajime.
He was unconscious when I got in there So I applied what could be given externally. I'll have to give him the pills when he wakes up...
