Our Great End?

We were in the middle of a hard fought battle to survive. It was Tuesday,May 6th ,2020, and it started out like any other typical day in Guyton, Georgia. It was hot, with a chance of rain. Everyone was looking forward to getting out of school, on the 23rd. The whispers through our 12th grade classrooms were the world was going too end today. My friends and I didn't buy it. Sure some strange things had been happening lately, but it didn't seem like the world was going to end. We thought it was years and years away.

Let me tell you a little bit about my friends and I. Lindsey who is ,17,courageous and rebellious, is my best friend .,and has dark brown hair. Austin who is 17, hilarious, has dirty blond hair ,and freckles. Jasmine who is, 17 ,kinda shy, and has long,thick,black hair. Waylan who is 17, really tall, has redhair, and sometimes cracks me up.Michael who is 19,has dirty blond hair and is the out of the box kinda guy. Also there's me I'm 18, I have wavy, short, red hair and I'm creative .Sammy is 17, has brown hair,and she's Cierra's cousin. Cierra' is 17, has long black hair, and is our best artist.  And then there's Katherine who is 17 , and has dirty blonde hair like Michael and is insane.

Pretty much all the types of friends everyone else wants.You see I'm kinda of a mix,Lindsey is courageous, Austin is sarcastic, Jazmine is stylish, Waylan is funny , Michael is a problem solver,Sammy is also a problem solver, Cierra' is the artist, and Katherine is insane. We have a little bit of every personality so we have friends with diverse traits. We have been a group since seventh grade. We may not be popular, but we were friends for life.We even developed acode that was impossible to crack. We called it the Petobet. It contained numerous confusing symbols.

It was just another typical Tuesday. We're eating and Lindsey was brilliantly assembling a theory , my one of a kind besties and I were making up immature jokes at lunch like we normally do, and the lunchroom was as loud as can be.The air was filled with rumors.When all of the sudden a tornado touched down five miles away from the school! Everyone stared at the ominous and huge funnel cloud that would soon try to destroy us all. It was the coolest and scariest thing I had ever seen and would see. Despite the fact that we're about to die I couldn't help but imagining my younger, 7th grade, hilarious brother being swept off by the huge,swirling, mass about to destroy everything I've ever known It sounded like a freight train was heading straight for the school.Throughout the school you could hear the screams of innocent staff and students. The intercom then blared words I will never forget if I survive, " ATTENTION STAFF AND STUDENTS, AN EF5 TORNADO HAS TOUCHED DOWN FIVE MILES AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL. PLEASE CALMLY FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO YOU BY YOUR -TEACHER'S. THANK YOU!" Austin and Jazmine were quivering with fear, Sammy and Cierra' were saying,"Oh lordie,  Katherine was screaming,  Michael and I just tried to remain calm , while Lindsey just said "Alrighty then". Then Austin said out of the blue ," After this lets go get ice cream and a 9 jet skis," he says like he always does to lighten the mood. Nothing could lighten the mood after what was just announced. The intercom blared a final warning," PLEASE SEEK REFUGEE , THIS IS AN EF5 TORNADO THAT WE ARE DEALING WITH!"

We calmly sprinted towards the hallway. We could still hear screams as we left our seats. My heart was racing as I recounted what just happened. It was true that the world was ending today! I was about to lose it all!Nothing was going to be left! I was never going to see my friends again, unless God's grace spared them!  Never again to walk the Earth!We plopped down and covered our faces,all the other students screaming was still ringing through the school hallways and the next thing we knew everything started turning fuzzy.Slowly the tornados howling dispeared ,and that was it.
