This is a legend that not many know...
A legend where one were four, and cast out into a place from sun to snow...
Four were de-aged, with powers of the gods...
But with their power, they would overcome any odds...
This is the story of the Four Swords of Teyvat.
He looked down at his hands. Something was off. Everything felt bigger.
"What happened...?" a familiar voice said from behind him, higher though.
He turned around.
"Blue?!" Green exclaimed, "I thought we were meant to-"
"Me too," another voice joined in, also higher.
"Vio?!" Blue exclaimed.
"I'm here too," Red said, more high pitched than usual.
"It looks like all of us are accounted for. But why are we here?" Green wondered.
A familiar voice cackled, and they all became on edge.
"Hear my curse! If you ever return the Four Sword, you'll be lost in this world forever! No connections to Hyrule at all, and you'll be forced to live here for the rest of your lives. I call this curse!"
Green remembered the flash of purple when they were 'becoming Link again'.
"So...we're trapped forever, now?" Red almost whimpered, "Without anyone else?"
"Hey, we've still got each other," Green said. "Vio? What's wrong?"
"We're four again," he explained.
"Well, we never actually properly merged-" Blue explained, but Vio shook his age.
"It looks like we're age four again." Vio explained more clearly.
"Four?!" Red yelped. "We're been deaged?!"
"It must be a side-effect of the curse!" Blue exclaimed. "That not good, lying-"
"That won't get us anywhere," Vio told Blue. "So? We're in a new world. The best thing to do is to..."
"Gather information..." Green sighed.
Vio nodded. "Now, we're meant to be young, so thinking up a cover story won't be difficult. So, what do you think?"
"Don't you mean what do you think? You're the smart one," Blue answered.
"Fine." Vio thought for a moment. "How about we're travellers? Our parents let us go to adventure as we please. We left for a week, but when we came back to check on them, they were gone. Now we just explore ourselves, looking for a new place to find home?"
"That last part sounds way too smart for a four year old, Vio," Red told him. "How about that we decided to do the last thing that our parents told us to do, adventure. That's more simple."
"Sure," Vio said, "And we can say we're quadruplets."
"Sounds good," Green said. "Blue?"
"Sure. As long as we don't get killed here," Blue muttered.
"Hey, cheer up! We're the Heroes of the Four Sword! We can do this!" Red beamed.
Green smiled. "C'mon. Let's get go to find a place to rest for a while."
As they explored, they found that more childish tendencies were taking over. Red acted more childlike, Green outright giggled like a child, Blue beamed at everyone a couple of times, and Vio showed more emotion, and also in a bigger range of it.
They came across a camp of strange creatures that looked sort of familiar. Immediately, they went into formation. Green lead the charge, beginning with holding up his sword. A huge wind whipped from it, demolishing the entire camp.
"Hey! Why didn't you leave some for me?" Blue complained.
Vio frowned, "Something about it is different. It looks like we've got a power upgrade, especially since our elements before-"
"Lalalalalalala!" Red cut in, hands over his ears, "I don't want to hear your smartness!"
Vio rolled his eyes, but he was smiling.
"Sorry, Blue! You can lead it next time, I promise!" Green answered. "Is it just me, or are they so...easy this time? They shouldn't be this easy-"
"If it is, we're going to have a great time here!" Red beamed. "Let's loot the camp."
They gathered every single thing possible as they explored. From fruits, to herbs, and even doing some hunting, they gathered a huge amount of resources. Sure, they had plenty of red potions, but it was best to save those for emergencies. Of course, there were also the fairies that remained.
"Woah! Look!" Red pointed at a huge area of the land, which looked like a huge city.
Vio was starting to feel the effects of being a four year old, as his eyes went as wide as saucers. Green and Blue had more expressive reactions, the latter gasping and eyes shining, and the former grinning and clutching his sword.
"It looks so cool!" Blue gaped. "This is where we find a place to stay, right?"
Everyone turned to Green, who was beaming so hard his face might explode.
"Yes!" Green exclaimed.
They continued forward, collecting more than ever before on their journey towards this new city.
"Hey! You four?" a voice called.
It was a girl, accompanied by a boy with a floating girl by his side.
All four heads turned. They had just finished looting another camp, which was a bit bigger. Blue had created a tsunami from what looked like the water molecules in the air, wiping them away. Vio had used the earth to shoot parts of the earth so hard that holes were in the monster's chests before they died.
"Hello!" Green stepped forward.
He looks like he's in charge of his...siblings? Quadruplets? The girl thought.
"I'm Amber, Outrider of the Knights of Favonius. This is Aether and Paimon. Who are you?" Amber asked, leaning down to meet the young kid's eyes.
"I'm Green! This is Red, Blue, and Vio." Green gestured to each in turn.
Red gave a huge smile which made Amber coo inside. Blue grinned, which was so adorable for Amber, and Vio gave a shy smile, while made Amber think Vio was a bit more closed off.
"Our parents let us go to adventure as we please!" Red said, "So now we do just that!"
Despite the weird naming after colours, Amber could assume they're all nicknames, due to the colours that they wore each. Perhaps they were all named the same? She frowned. They looked like they could be no more than four- how could parents let them go like that? They didn't seem to have visions. Except for a sword and shield each, and different weapons that each carried. Green carried simply the sword and shield, Red carried a strange rod, Vio carried a bow and arrow, like her, and Blue carried what looked like some sort of mace. Weapons that shouldn't be expected out of four year olds!
"I'm a traveller," Aether said, "And this is my emergency food,"
He gestured to Paimon, who shouted.
"PAIMON IS NOT EMERGENCY FOOD!" she burst out.
"Did she just refer to herself in third person?" Vio almost gaped.
Amber chuckled. "We were just heading to Mondstadt, the City of Freedom. Would you like to come along!"
"Yes!" the Colours answered, making the older ones smile.
Together, they made their way towards Mondstadt.
Usually, gods would ask for permission before entering another's city. Four powerful presences was overwhelming. So overwhelming, that it would destroy Mondstadt itself with horrible intentions.
For the first time in a long while, Barbatos opened his eyes.
