In A Light in the Mist, 7 cats died

I'll go over the original events and then explain the changes I made to these

Snowtuft

Snowtuft was the first to die in the book. He was a Dark Forest Tom, who was in the Place of No Stars because of actions and decisions he made in his life so long ago. However, he is reintroduced in The Place of No Star's book when Rootspring is in the Dark Forest, and the scarred white Tom helps him and the Clans to stop Ashfur's/Imposter's plans of destroying the Clans, StarClan and the Dark Forest.
Unfortunately, Ashfur snapped his neck early on in A Light in the Mist, and dies. Which means his spirit is gone forever.

In my au, Snowtuft isn't killed off, and like Rootspring originally hoped, earned a place in StarClan for his redemption. He assists in the final battle and helps drive off the rogues that Darktail led in.

Darkstripe

I kept his death the same, with Firestar killing him through Rootspring's body. Honestly, I loved that scene. I've never liked Darkstripe.

Redwillow

Like Snowtuft, the Dark Forest Tom helps the Clans, along with Maggottail, Silverhawk and Sparrowfeather. Recruited by Bristlefrost, but the Tom never made it. Instead, his spirit was killed off forever after accidentally falling the dark waters that nearly killed Rootspring, and later killed Ashfur and Bristlefrost.

In my au, Redwillow survives, with Bristlefrost being able to stop him before he tumbles into the dark waters. He didn't deserve to die to suddenly, he was aiding the Clans and was redeeming himself.

Darktail

I keep his death the same. In the final battle, Needletail, a StarClan cat, murders him. Darktail had originally killed her back in A Vision of Shadows before Onestar, his own father, drowned him. I liked Darktail's arc, but I would keep his spirit death the same.

Ashfur & Bristlefrost

In the book, Ashfur was dragging Shadowsight's unconscious body towards the dark waters to drown him. When Bristlefrost sees this, she briefly exchanges glances with Rootspring before launching herself at Ashfur, with both of them tumbling into the waters. She manages to keep Ashfur down there until his spirit died and dissapeared, but at the cost of her own life. Bristlefrost was one of the main POV characters, so we got to read her death from her own point of view. And it was just terrible. Rootspring never got to chance to tell her he was moving to ThunderClan to be with her. And Shadowsight just blames himself for her death. She didn't even earn a a spot in StarClan because her spirit disappeared forever.

In my au, Bristlefrost survives, because I was too heartbroken with her death. She still falls in the water, and Ashfur still dies. But Maggottail jumps into the water and pulls her out, much to the relief of Rootsprings and the others. Maggottail nearly drowns but the other Dark Forest cats drag him back to the surface, and then water disappears as the worlds go back to normal and the connection between StarClan and the living is restored.

Graystripe

don't change his death. He dies from his wounds inflicted by Ashfur after they return to the living. As much as I love this old soul, he was right in what he said. He had a long, happy life and deserved peace now that Ashfur was defeated.

Speaking of old souls
Mistystar is far too expired and needs to die. It's time for a new leader for RiverClan. And not Reedwhisker, even though he's the deputy. He's Mistystar son but
is about the same age as Graystripe.

New Death

I chose to add Bramblestar into the final battle. I think it would add a bit of twist to the end where Bramblestar dies in the end. Ashfur would be the one to kill him, this happens before Ashfur messes with Shadowsight and gets pushed into the water by Bristlefrost.
I have a strong hatred for Bramblestar, so yup. That's why I added this in 🙃

To conclude with this chapter, at the gathering where the Clans discuss new code changes, Rootspring declares his feelings for Bristlefrost in front of everyone and wishes to join ThunderClan. After some debate, he joins the Clan to be with Bristlefrost.
Eventually they have kits

Squirrelflight becomes Squirrelstar, appointing Dewnose as her deputy.

Snowtuft joins StarClan. Everything else is the same with the Dark Forest cats and Juniperclaw.
