It was particularly a very windy day. The sun was out gracefully landing on surfaces only hidden by the high buildings of Lagos. The city was very busy, fleets of cars graced the roads, shop owners voices could be heard advertising one form of goods or the other. It was a typical Monday morning.
In the midst of this, at the more affluent side of Lagos, stood a mansion. In it lived the a Johnsons. The family filled with powerhouses.
Ayomide Gabriel Johnson. A tall dark man, broad shoulders and a visible jaw line. Well built, in his late 40s and charmingsmile, the leader of this family of elite, Ceo of John's Inc and several businesses. Making headlines and covers, husband to the beautiful and flawless Bolanle Sarah Johnson, earning the nickname"African queen " from her peers and media due to her light tanned skin, well shaped and built body. Long flowing brown hair and plum lip. She was a beauty turning head even in her late 30s and his advisor and ceo of growing clothing line. Beauty and brains.
These two fell in love and had a beautiful baby girl. She was an angel in every sense. Ayotola Sonia Johnson was born. She grew up in wisdom, beauty , kindness and wealth.
This is her story.....On this particular day, Sonia could be seen seated at her balcony just taking in the view. The wind taking her long curly jet black hair, letting the sun reveal her little tips of brown at the end. Her eyes gracefully opening revealing her heterochromic eyes for display. How the grey and black beautiful contracts and compliment each other. Her plum lip quiver making her sneeze, indicating she has a cold. Her glasses falls onto her laps, landing on her white floral dress.
"Aww cute" her mother appears from the corner with a smirk it would put animations to shame. Startled she falls head first onto the floor, she aged with beauty yes...but lacks in the grace department. ' Mommy you scared me!" She pouted screaming with her might. The 16 years old picks herself placing her glasses on and proceeds to stand, arms crossed and eyes filled with disapproval. " I'm sorry Disney princess, couldn't help but admire the view" Bola chuckles. Sonia smiles and prostrate "Good morning ma". "Morning my love, sleep well? ", Sonia nods looking back at the view. "Mommy, where's daddy? " "Oh he headed out, something about "bringing a surprise for his princess ".Sonia leaped forward to her mother. 'You're joking !" . Bola couldn't help but chuckle at her child enthusiasm. " I'm not so go freshen up, I'm going to prepare lunch ", her mother heads out of the room. Immediately Sonia bolted to the bathroom, undressing letting her hair grace her bare skin and step into the shower freshening up. It was already quite late 1pm to be precise.
After freshening up she gets dressed. Wearing a plain polo shirt and her dad pants, she was a daddy's girl so she enjoyed this. She complimented this with some hair clips and gloss and she was ready .She walked down the stairs heading to the kitchen. There she saw her mom and one of the maid making lunch. It looked like they were having pepper soup (a special Nigerian dish prepared with spices and highly medicinal). " Mommy need help?" "No love just rest I'm fine almost done ". Nodding her head she went to the backyard heading towards the garden her favourite place in the house.
Being the only child, Sonia didn't ever have anyone to socialise or connect with, it sounds blissful having your parents love and attention all to yourself, no additional responsibilities. But it's hard. Restrictions she was literally hidden from the public eyes. She was always tense and anxious, she had a name to represent every time. She did brilliantly in school, but that caused unnecessary bullying. Kids can be silly yes, but also cruel. It didn't help since she was the quite reserved girl. She could only be her bubbly self with her parents. Who loved her for the smart nature loving girl.
They knew their baby girl was different since the beginning and would be destined for greatness. It was her fate.
Due to this her place of escape was nature. She felt like she was connected to it as it was to her, hence why she's vegetarian.Running round the flower field she falls letting her hair grace the earthy carpet. Giggling and letting the sun and wind kiss her skin. She ended up playing on the grass all day until the sun went to retire for the day, it was more windy and calmer. She was at peace, so peaceful she fell asleep. She's disturbed by a second presence next to her kissing her cheek. Her opened her eyes meeting her dad's own. "BOO" "DADDY!" She drags him into a bear hug which was soon overpowered by her dad.
"Hey princess, how are you ?" "I'm fine daddy, good a-...what's the time?" She giggles at herself realising she slept losing track of time. "Evening smallie, your mom said you looked like you're deep asleep so let you be, soo we had enough time to prepare your surprise " Sonia eyes literally glittered. "THANK YOU DADDY!" Ayo just laughed at held her hand towards her balcony. It was different now, very different. There had been flowers pots filled with beautiful water lilies and adorn with fairy lights. It looked like something out of a movie. She teared up hugging her dad tightly thanking repeatedly.
The night ended with her forgetting she had a plate of food in the kitchen and just reading a book with her dad and eventually falling asleep again.
If only she knew this would be the last night she experiences this bliss, this love, this memory....
