Hinata opened her door and saw Sasuke wearing his mission outfit. She glanced down at her own clothes and felt a little mismatched."Should we get going?" Sasuke asked, noting her discomfort. Evidently, she nodded.
Side by side, they walked out of the building, stares following them everywhere we go. Hinata felt all the eyes burning her skin till she had enough, at the entrance, she grabbed the Uchiha's wrist and pulled him down a seperate path away from the villagers and tourists. Somehow, they both felt comfort in the quiet.
"Does my hand entice you so much that you have to hold it?" The Uchiha said, a hint of cockiness escaping through his voice.
Hinata stared at her hand, wrapped around his wrist. With someone else, she would have dropped their arm and apologised but she felt braver, comfortable, for once.
"I suppose I have." She replied, loosening her grasp a little but not letting go.
The Uchiha marveled at her wits and a new side of him emerged, quickly switching his position of his hand until he was holding hers, fingers entwined together.
A blush grew up Hinata's face and this entertained the Uchiha. He loved seeing these new expressions she had whenever he did something.
He had urges to touch her face, her lips, her eyelids. But he kept that side of him under control. Just barely.
Hinata felt the warmth of the Uchiha's hand radiate into her and she felt butterflies explode in her stomach.
The sandy path ended to where they saw a mini stream. White lilies bloomed around little patches and the sky seemed to be blue with patches if fluffy clouds.
Sasuke lead the Hyuuga down the the edge of the water and plucked a flower from the ground, turning back to Hinata.
She was confused at what he was doing until he pinned the flower into her hair.
"It looks pretty.." he said, letting go of her hand and standing back to admire her.
Hinata blushed and pulled a strand of hair behind her ear.
Sasuke leaned forwards and traced his hand across her cheekbone before pulling her closer to kiss her. Hinata's heart pounded as she put her hands on his chest as his lips met hers.
As they pulled apart, Sasuke couldn't help but smile as Hinata returned to her shy self, the back of her hand covering her mouth.
"I love you Hinata." He said, pulling her hand down and staring into her eyes.
A rustling in the ground alerted the two and they jumped into a fighting stance, startled by a sudden entrance,
The sound of claps emerged from the bush and a young man pushed through it.
"What a pleasant surprise, the two ninja's here, together."
Hinata mumbled under her breathe, recognising the man from the image drawn in the scroll Sasuke gave her the night they left for the mission.
"Bring out your men, Botan." Sasuke said, pulling out a kunai.
Hinata activated her Byakugan and got her hands ready.
[ POV CHANGE CAUSE IT'S LATE AND I AINT GOT TIME ]
HINATA'S POV **
"Very well." The man scoffed, whistling a sound before about 20 men surrounded us, armed.
My eyes met Sasuke's for a second before he nodded. His hand found mine and squeezed it.
Have courage , it said.
The battle commenced and we flew into action. My hands twisted it's way around my enemies, passing a few blows and taking a few.
Sasuke took a more bloody attack, slicing his share of opponents into pieces.
A blow was taken to my stomach and it flew me against a tree, thrashing me to the floor.
Sasuke was quick to appear by my side and defend my while I got back on my feet. I wiped the blood that was painted on the corner of my lips and continued to fight.
Within no time, we had all the men squirming on the floor, defeated and hopeless. Somehow I didn't see Botan break a sweat as he observed us.
Sasuke stood infront of me, finishing the last man off.
Botan's eyes were elsewhere and as I followed them, I realized we fell into a trap. He had men stationed in the trees too.
Damn bastard.
I threw two kunai at them and saw the bodies fall onto the ground. A rustling alerted me of a third man but I realised it was too late.
A spear was thrown towards me from the corner of my eye, to fast for me to dodge. It pierced my stomach and my shout filled the air.
As I fell to my knees, Sasuke turned around and eyes wide and his face pale.
He threw the kunai at the man and he died instantly, his last view being me pulling the spear out of myself.
I clutched Sasuke's arm as he grabbed me, words failing to escape my mouth. I felt a strange numbness creep over me, building up by the second.
"Don't- don't try and speak." Sasuke said, laying me on the floor. I searched for Botan but he was gone, probably have run away like a coward.
Breathing came hard and suddenly I was taking larger breathes.
Sasuke stared at my face, watching my every expression. I brought my hand uo to his face and traced his lips with my thumb, leaving a little blood.
"You can't leave me. I promised. I promised Neji." He started muttering between breathes, hands shaking as he pulled my hand into his.
"I promised Itachi too." I started before coughing blood up again.
"Stop, don't waste your breathes-" He started but I shook my head and continued anyways.
"I made a promise to look after you, I won't break that.. even if I'm not always by your side." I said, feeling my heart break as I tried to memorize his face.
"Hinata, I've only just met you.. we still haven't even..I need you." His tears started to build up and my eyes started to tear up too.
"I didn't want to cry, I wanted to stay strong. For you." My end felt close, my soul slowly leaving my body.
"Sasuke, stay strong, for me... Don't do anything reckless." I said, before I blacked out completely.
The last words I heard were, "I love you Hinata."
