JUSTINE I. SKYE

"Justine, you didn't have to do this for me," Mani said, carrying three shopping bags

"Justine, you didn't have to do this for me," Mani said, carrying three shopping bags. I decided to take her shopping to celebrate her acceptance into her dream school; she needed new clothes and shoes anyway, and my excuse was the acceptance letter.

"No, this is my gift to you." She nodded and continued walking towards the adidas store. "Last store, I swear, I heard they restocked Ivy Park." I nodded, handed her my credit card, and told her she could get whatever she wanted; she was hesitant at first, but I insisted.

"May I help you, ma'am?" This white lady asked me. "No, I'm just here with my girl, but thank you." She nodded her head and continued to ask people if they needed assistance. I decided to play on my phone until Mani was finished shopping.

"OK, I'm done," Mani said as she approached me with two outfits in her hand. "Is that it?" she nodded her head. "They didn't have a lot, so" She shrugged and proceeded to the register, where the lady who had greeted me earlier stood. As I approached, I noticed Mani froze and stared at the girl. I focused my attention on the worker, who appeared to be sad, happy, and shocked.

"Mani, it's great to see you, I-I miss you, we thought you died-"

"Can you please ring this up?" She said, looking down at the counter and not meeting the girl's gaze. The brunette gave me a soft smile ringing up the items, she was turning red and looked like she was about to cry.

"Total is $250.30," she said nervously, mani paid for her items and stormed out of the store. "Thank you," I said as I took the receipt and bag from her; she nodded and ran to the back. What the hell was that?

I dashed out to the car, not waiting for Justine; I needed to get out of there. That was the first time I'd seen Camila in person since she cheated on me, and she looked beautiful. But I despised her and didn't want anything to do with her or Dinah. After everything had settled, I burst into tears while leaning against the car, with my head against the window.

"Mani?" I heard Justine say as her arms wrapped around me "C-can we go? I'll explain everything at home." I heard her nod and put the bags in the car. I climbed into the car, ready to go home. Just like that, a good day was ruined.

I walked to my girlfriend's house after packing a few bags; I was now homeless, without a car, money, or family. My girlfriend and best friend were the only people I had, and that's where I was going.

I texted Dinah and Camila an hour ago, telling them to meet me at her house, but I have yet to receive a text back, so I shrugged it off and continued my journey to Camila's house.

Losing my family will most likely be very difficult for me; my nurturer and protector decided to disown me because I didn't like the opposite gender. I assumed they were all about same-sex equality, but apparently not.

I was extremely happy when I arrived at my girlfriend's house; I hadn't seen Camila in weeks due to our schedules, but I'm here now and can't wait to drown her in love.

It was... quiet when I walked in, but I could hear faint noises coming from upstairs. I sat my bag down and walked up to her room. As I got closer, the faint noises turned into soft moans, and my smile vanished. I hope she's not cheating, please not right now.

"I'm so close, mila" I heard a woman's voice say which sounded like Dinah, so I walked up to her door, which was cracked open, and decided to peek inside; I couldn't believe what I saw.

My girlfriend was having sex with my bestfriend.

I felt tears well up in my eyes as I walked in further, slamming the door shut, which made them both jump and panic when they saw my distraught expression.

"What are you doing here, Mani?" Camila quickly covered her naked body, a look of guilt on her face. "Well, I needed to vent to my girlfriend and bestfriend because I finally came out to my parents and am now homeless. But I see you've got your own thing going," I chuckled, Dinah was crying, why? I'm not sure.

"I'm so sorry-" Dinah began, but I cut her off because I didn't want to hear either of their apologies. They were only sorry because they were caught.

"We're done, Camila, and Dinah, you're a snake, don't ever talk to me again, both of you," I said calmly as I walked out. Of course, my name was being called; Camila even stated that she "loved me" and that "it meant nothing to her." But I ignored her and continued my journey; I didn't know where I was going, but it was definitely away from here.

I was walking back up to mani's room with some Chinese food in my hands. She told me everything that had happened with her ex-girlfriend and the other girl, and she was so heartbroken; it was my first time seeing her that vulnerable, and I hated it. So I ran her a bath and told her to relax; as soon as she got out, she fell asleep.

I practically ran into her room when I heard a scream. She was sitting up in her bed, tears streaming down her cheeks. She looked like she was about to hyperventilate, so I rushed to her side and tried to calm her down.

"Breathe mani, follow my heartbeat," I said as I placed the palm of her hand on my chest so she could feel my steady heartbeat; she was calming down and sobbing uncontrollably.

"T-they hurt me justine," she cried as she clutched my hand, and I felt my own eyes well up with tears; baby girl didn't deserve any of this. "They can't hurt you anymore, baby, I'm here now." I drew her closer to me and just held her.

"I'm right here"
