It did not take long to get to school for Elodie.

She was used to going to school late because of her primary school experiences and all the times she tried to skip school by oversleeping, so leaving earlier than normal, coupled with the fact that she was almost flying up the hill, caused her to arrive just in time.

However, the thought of being late was not what was tormenting her; the thought of Big Deal being in her town was what was truly bothering her, but if they end up at her secondary school, she was not going to think twice about leaving right away.

Please, Elodie prayed, God, please. She parked her bike and looked at the school.

Massive.

She could easily get lost in here and hiding from bullies would not be a problem... if the staff members did not give you a technological, artificially intelligent map on your first day.

"Please do not lose these," began the staff member, her sapphire-crimson uniform matching the school emblem (two dragons, one blue and one red) perfectly.

"If you do, although they are hard to make, we will give you a second map. If you lose that one too, together with your classes, a new class will be added to your curriculum.

'In this class, teachers will teach you how to get around the school. You will not be able to receive a replacement until you finish these classes, and, after that, you will have to buy one. 100 GSE straight away or 10 GSE each week for 10 weeks."

The lady gave Elodie the map and, once it touched her cold fingertips, the map's steel front cover lit up.

Soon after, a digital keypad, like the one a phone has, appeared, and three boxes saying, 'name please,' 'surname please' and, 'password please' lit up above the keypad.

"Enjoy your stay at Sakura Dragonkin Secondary Boarding School, S.D.B.S.S. for short. Goodbye!"

Elodie had a thousand questions zooming around her head.

Remembering that this was a boarding school, Elodie wondered; was she meant to get her luggage or something? How did they make such advanced maps? Are the maps too cheap for something so advanced? How does she use this? Couldn't they do the same thing by creating a map on an app for much cheaper? What are GSEs? All those questions had to be held up inside her because right now, she needed to get to her tutor class.

The lady had already moved on to the next person, so there was no point in asking her anymore, so she began walking towards those frightfully long stairs to the main gate.

It looked like there were three stairs, symbolising the qualities that the school wanted in their students. The green stairs were for people focusing on their academics, the red ones were for those who had a particular goal in mind, hence their customizability, and the grey ones, the ones with the most people, were for those who didn't have a specific goal in mind but were on the right track to finding their goals in life.

Disabled people were lucky; they got to use the elevator; the same goes for people with breathing disabilities like asthma. However, they must have some other way to test them, so Elodie had reasons to believe that they were being mentally tested.  However, people who were perfectly fine had to go up more than 1,000 stairs before they reached the school! Talk about exercise!

"Alright, let's do this." breathed Elodie, as she started her ascent to the school.

The marble stairs were cold and unforgiving, but she was used to it, given that she walked, cried, jumped, fallen and lived on them for as long as she could remember.
