(I finally finished this woo!!)
You hear voices slowly pulling you out of your slumber, and as you crack open your eyes, the room you're in is so bright that it hurts, forcing them shut. But one of the voices came closer to you, so you force them open again and sit up with a groan.
"Morning Y/N, how you feelin'?" Vanessa asks. Her hair was down now, and her security vest was sitting on another bed. You don't feel like talking because your throat still kind of hurts, so you just make a 'so-so' gesture with your hand. You did feel better than last night though.
"Well, you're alive, so that's something." She says with a grin. She puts the back of her hand on your forehead, eyebrows furrowing. You lean into the touch, but she simply pulls her hand away (how rude).
"Not any better than last night. Here, take this," she hands you a water bottle. You open it and drink while Vanessa keeps talking.
"You looked awful last night, I don't know why I even sent you out for security work." She said with guilt lacing her voice.
"Oh wow, thanks. Trying to root those self esteem problems in me early? 'Cause spoiler alert, my parents did that for you." You say jokingly, putting the bottle on the floor.
"Well, I'm sorry kid- wait what?" She starts, only realizing what you said a second after.
"Nothing, nothing, never mind-" you say.
"I love how you're sick, but still can make your witty remarks and stuff-" Vanessa says, but the loud clap of thunder outside startles you both.
"What the hell?" You exclaim, staring up at the ceiling as if anything would have changed. The lights flicker a bit, but that's it.
"Oh yeah, it's storming really bad today. We were gonna tell the day shift that Sun needed maintenance so we could close the daycare today, but they ended up closing the whole Pizza Plex because of the storm." She explained.
You glance around, "Where's Sun?"
"He was here right before you woke up, but his battery was low from being up all night, so I told him to go up to his charging station."
"He was up all night?"
Vanessa nodded "Yeah, he was worried sick about you, I practically had to force him to go charge before he could power down."
"That's..." you train off, not being able to find the right words.
"That's Sun, as protective as ever." Vanessa said, "And I have a question for you."
"Shoot"
"Why did you even come to the Pizzaplex if you were sick?"
"I mean... I guess I thought it wasn't a big deal? I wasn't this bad when I came in yesterday, and all the kids are a handful with both me and Sun, I can't imagine the chaos if it was just Sun."
"And?"
"And what?"
"I've gotten to know you ever since you've started training for the volunteer job, and there's more of a reason than that."
You pause, contemplating if you should tell...
"I was scared if I missed time I'd get kicked off the volunteer program..." you admit.Vanessa was about to respond when the bright yellow animatronic himself came into view.
"Hellooo! I see that you're finally awake, sleepy head!" He greets you.
"Sundrop! You're supposed to be in your charging station!" She told him sternly.
