"Melissa and I are not broken up and we never will be. I love her with everything in me. She is my paradise and I'm stranded in her. Everything I do is for her and I regret nothing when it comes to keeping her safe."

I replayed it over and over as I heard the reporter read the quote I had given Carissa yesterday.

Thankfully, the invitation to dinner had swayed in convincing her not to completely batter me in the media.

I'd have to maneuver her carefully. If I knew anything about Carissa, it was that she was dangerous and when she set her sights on someone, she'd stop at nothing to have them. It's exactly how she got Kal. It's how she tried to get me.

When Kal and I first integrated into the BDSM world, the only club that was heavily recommended to us was Roxy's in Midtown.

It became like our second home, especially because of their concrete discretion policy.

We might have been newbies at the club but Carissa was a vet and when she saw Kal walk in, she knew she had to have him.

The only problem was that Carissa was the owner's submissive and he was the most brutal master of them all. She wasn't allowed to look in anyone else's direction.

I don't know how the little psychopath did it but she ended up being let go by her master, allowing her to run straight into Kal's arm and closer to me all the while he was practicing in the same club.

It was only 6:30pm and Carissa was going to arrive any second. I didn't want her in my house but I knew I had to extinguish the fuse she was planning to light. I had to make it abominably clear that I had no interest in her. That Melissa was the only woman for me.

"Mr. Shaw, the penne is almost ready. Will your guest be arriving shortly?," My chef, Karla politely asked.

"Yes, Karla. Just set the table. I'm trying to get this over with quickly."

"Of course, Mr. Shaw."

As Karla promptly set the table, I grabbed a whiskey neat and downed it. Carissa would show up any minute now and I had absolutely no idea how this night would play out.

She always had a few loose screws and I wasn't trying to loosen them anymore than they already were.

I finally heard the intercom buzz and my housekeeper ran to press the little button that allowed my private elevator to descend upstairs. She was here.

Once the elevator reached the penthouse, I saw Carissa leaning on the handle all the way to the back of the elevator as she propped her body off the metal bar and began making her way into the foyer.

"Wow, hasn't changed a bit," she eyed the room entirely. "I thought you would have switched up a little something in all these years but nope, you're still the same old Thomas."

"I'm not... Can I get you something?"

"Just a whiskey, straight." Her stare was intense.

I walked over and poured her a glass as I felt the intensity of her eyes burning into my back.

"So, why'd you invite me here Thomas, other than to save your reputation?" Fuck this was going to be harder than I thought.

I turned around, passing her the glass as I took out her chair, directing her to sit.

"I hope you like penne-a-la-vodka."

"I love," she took her tongue and slid it across her bottom lip in attempt to seduce me. It wasn't working.

"I invited you here to set the record straight. She dropped her fork and looked up at me.

"Really, how so?"

"I know what you're trying to do here, Carissa. You're trying to get back into my bed. I'm sorry to tell you but there's no place for you there."

I tried being as compassionate as I could. She would just have to understand.

"That's what you think, but we both know I belong there and I have from the start. You think that ugly little bitch can give you the pleasure I know you long for. I know her story, Thomas. You spit it right back out at me during the interview."

I scoffed. I had told her way too much. I would have kept those things private if I knew she was the one behind the reporting. I just couldn't place her at the time so I let her continue.

"You're really fucking Kal's daughter, huh?" She chuckled under her breath. "I knew Kal was a fucking sicko but raping his own daughter is low, even for him." She stood and began approaching me until she was right beside me.

"She can't give you what you want Thomas, she gave it all to her Daddy."

I stood up quick, dropping my plate to the ground at her indecent remark.

"Keep her name out of your fucking mouth, Carissa."

"That's what I like to see baby, come on now, get angry."

She was fucking sick. She was tantalizing me just so that I'd want to fuck her, just so that I'd want to punish her. The problem was that I wouldn't have wanted to fuck her regardless. Only Melissa did that for me now.

"And you'll do what, huh? She left you and you're chasing her like a lost fucking puppy. You're chasing somebody who can't even be a fucking proper submissive to you."

"You don't know the first fucking thing about her."

"I know her Daddy used to fuck her and you're taking his sloppy seconds." I wanted to hurt her, the fury in my head only intensifying.

"Last time I checked, you fit that role. Hence, you used to be his and all. You're fucking repulsive, how dare yo-," she took one finger and pressed them against my lips rendering me silent.

"If I were you, I'd watch exactly how you talk to me. I can make your life a living fucking nightmare, I wouldn't test it."

Before I knew it, she took my face and slammed hers into it, kissing me with so much force I was almost sure she cut my lip. I could have vomited.

Everything about her was repulsive to me. I was finally able to push her away when I heard the doors to my elevator open into the foyer which connected right into the Dining Room. Who the fuck is walking into my home unannounced?

Once my eyes lifted from the monstrosity in front of me, I saw the beauty that stood only a few feet away.

I saw the woman who I had been dreaming of every second of every mother fucking day and the first thing she saw after months of not speaking to me was another woman's lips on mine.

She stood frozen, her two feet plastered on the ground while her eyes remained darted open.  She looked absolutely beautiful in a short black dress and her hair up in a sleek bun. Her skin was radiating and she had a glow that only intensified by the second. I didn't think the woman could have gotten any more beautiful since the last time I saw her but once again, Melissa had proven me wrong. My eyes took in all of her, all that it had missed during those few months. I couldn't drop my gaze from her.

Her eyes began puddling as she walked towards the elevator panel and pressed the button, not saying a single word.

"Wait! No! Melissa, it's not what you think!" I ran full speed towards her, attempting to stop her. I had never ran so fast in my life. I just wanted one second with her.

The elevator was an inch away from closing before I finally made it to the door.

The only thing I could see from the little space between the closing doors was a singular tear drop from her beautiful face which held the weight of the world in it. The weight of my world.

And just like that, she was gone.
