"(Y/n)! That's your name, right?"
I whirled around, clutching the dagger in my right hand.
"I'm not here to hurt you" There it was again. That voice.
"Than prove it and show yourself!" My eyes darted back and forth, knowing he could emerge from any of the shadows surrounding me.
Surely enough, he slowly walked out into view as to not scare me. I narrowed my eyes at him. The thin brows and dark eyes seemed so familiar, but why?
Not trying to let myself get distracted, I stopped my staring and interrogated him. "Who are you, and why do you know my name?"
"My name is Sam, and I'm here to help. You said you wanted to go to Mondstadt, right?" I put a hand out indicating for him to stop.
"How do you know that!?"
"How could I not? That waitress who was serving you told just about everyone working with her about it. She said 'A Khaenr'iahn can go anywhere in Teyvat but still she wouldn't belong.'"
"Thanks for that." I groaned, knowing that lady was never good news to begin with. "So what, you work there?"
Sam nodded nervously. "I also say you earlier getting chewed out by Mr. Zhao." He continued, though I once again stopped him.
"That face in the crowd! That was you?!"
"Yes it was." He nodded again. "As I've said, I couldn't help but find out all about your predicament. But fear not, I wish to help you! See, I come from Mondstadt, and I usually travel there once a month to visit my family. Surely, a few more people traveling with me shouldn't hurt!"
I squinted at him, trying to tell if he was lying. His dark eyes darted back and forth and he squirmed under my critical gaze.
"When are you leaving?" I asked, trying not to get my hopes up.
"Tomorrow at noon."
My eyebrows furrowed, trying to piece all of this together. I never thought I would actually be making such a choice for my family. I always expected Aster to, as she was the head of the household. But now, the decision was down to me.
Do I leave this life in search for a better one ahead? Who will follow me down the different paths I choose? And will I be able to find true happiness if I look for it close enough? One thing is for sure: my fate is mine alone to decide.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
