Lachlan looked up from his papers and stood as soon as I walked in. In the dim of the light I could see how truly tired he looked. As much as I wanted to be with him tonight the guy needed to rest and I was not about to put his health in danger.
«Samantha! Ye look breathtaking, as always.» He said coming closer to me.
We were mere inches away from each other and as I cupped his cheek he leaned into my touch. "You look tired." I caressed his cheek feeling his stubble against my palm. "Maybe we should do this an other time".
"Oh that feels really nice. Come, would ye like something ta drink?" He took my hand in his and pulled me further into the room.
"Are you sure? We could do this an other time. I won't mind."
"I am sure and I'll be okay. I have a great whiskey if ye're game."
"That will be just perfect." I watched him go towards the corner of the room where a bar was set and while he prepared my drink I walked around his office.
It was decorated with taste and very masculine. It suited him well. The view of Boston skyline was breathtaking. When you walk in to the right you have a personal cloak room. The rest of the room was divided in two; to one side there was a sitting area with a wet bar filled with all kinds of liquors and snacks. Further into the room and before the bay window sat the master piece, his desk and captain chair with two matching chairs just in front of it. To the other side of the room was conference table that seated ten. And just after there were two other doors that were at the moment closed. I could only imagine that one of them would lead to a private bathroom.
I walked behind his desk and looked over the pictures placed all the long the console behind his desk. Family photos in diverse moments through out their lives. One particular caught my eye. Lachlan with a beautiful little girl of two or three yeas-old on his lap.
"That is Deborah...me daughter." He said handing me my glass of whiskey.
"She is absolutely beautiful. I can see the resemblance between the two of you, she has your eyes."
He turned and picked an other photo of his desk and said, "This is her now. It was taken a few months ago when she turned ten."
"You never said that you were married."
"Never been married." He began to tell me how one night coming home from a night of drinking and partying found himself with a two-year-old little girl in his arms. He went on and explained how his life changed in just a few moments.
I watched him look at the little girl in the picture frame and there was so much love and affection for her, it was so heartwarming. He took it from my hands placed the frame back on his desk.
"I'm sorry I didnna* say anything about Deborah. I..."
I placed my hand on his arm. "Hey I get it. Normally I wouldn't have told you of my problems if it wasn't for my ex-husband nagging all the time. There are some things that should be kept private in the begging of a relationship." Looking into his eyes I smiled at him. "I don't blame you at all."
We sat next to each other on the couch in front of the bay window. I sat with my legs under me facing him with my arm on the back of the couch. His hand was on my knee. We sat there in blissful silence for some time. A comfortable silence.
While I caressed his hair at the base of his neck his hand gently made circles up and down my thigh. His eyes met mine and without a word he pulled the glass of whiskey from my hand and placed it on the table.
"My God ye are beautiful." He whispered as one of his hands cups my cheek and caresses it gently with his thumb.
We leaned into each other until I felt his lips on mine. Instantly, without hesitation, I opened for him, my fingers digging into his hard shoulder muscles, pulling him closer to me, wanting nothing else but him. His hand moved up sliding into my hair and tilting my head back, deepening the kiss. In a frenzy his tongue slid against mine, almost hungrily.
