Melody. A single word that holds the power to convey thousands of untold stories simultaneously. The word itself brings tranquility and harmony to every human mind-- calming its perturbed edges, voiding it of its infinite number of troubles.

Melody. Such a divine word.

Melody. Such an addicting word.

An addiction that, apparently, had the power to also make one lose their inner peace. A lost tune, which, if not grasped properly, would torment you unless and until you hug it tightly against your heart, making it a part of your soul existence.

He was like an untouchable melody for her. A literal rapper slash singer, ruling the music world with a well deserving dominance. His music made tears roll down her cheek, gave her the strength to carry on with honesty, made it easier for her to bear the heavy burdens life so cruelly threw towards her. He was her solace, his smile was her solitude, his existence was her happiness. He was her ocean-- gentle, calm and ever so soothing.

But his story was different.

He felt fire. Boiling lava rushing through his veins instead of blood, making it impossible for him breathe. It made his eyes blurry, as his heart thudded dangerously inside his ribcage, screaming and thrashing around to at least touch the silhouette of the woman that made his dreams dreadfully realistic. She was his lost melody-- a tune he could never attain despite of being a music producer and a part of the biggest boyband of the world. He failed there as a musician, as the melody failed his heart.

So in a fine February afternoon, on the verge of crossing a street, when their eyes met each other for the first time, there was an instant pull. It failed magnetism, the way their eyes remained glued on one another, refusing to move even an inch away. It was, in all way, impossible for him to be present there, but she knew it was him-- the man who unknowingly saved her life. And though her face was covered by a black mask, just like him, he knew forthwith that it was her, his impeccable assonance, both the source and destination of his lost euphony. The afternoon sun stood frozen for them at the horizon, making the ocean water look like melted gold, the seagulls whirled past them, maintaining their distance so not to break the rhythm of the electrifying attraction in the air. The February breeze ghosted past them, lulling their hearts, reassuring their feelings. Her earrings tingled, dark bangs grazed her full rimmed grey glasses, her eyes big and wide. He sucked in an unconscious sharp breathe, finding himself getting rapidly lost in those vibrant eyes-- as did she, standing frozen on the opposite side of the road, tracing his eyes like a greedy treasure hunter.

Unbeknownst to them, the Universe smiled knowingly, feeling relieved that the story of two yearning hearts was finally on the chapter of another new beginning.
