Miriam's wolf was once harsh and cold rather than warm and friendly like her family's. Her wolf had white fur and ice-cold jade eyes that pierced the souls of those she looked at. The stone-coldness of her wolf made her unapproachable even in her human form. The cold heart of the wolf made it impossible for her to find a mate, which was dangerous for an alpha. That meant she didn't have a balanced pack dynamic which caused lots of issues in wolves like her.
"Miriam, love, it's time to go." Her mom yelled up the staircase. The girl stirred in her bed the night before was rough. A few humans had beaten her up, and she wasn't looking forward to the day ahead. Especially her mother's questioning. She put on a fresh tee-shirt and pants and shoes. As she put on her wolfskin jacket, she felt the wolf in her stir with delight. It was her favorite jacket. She grabbed her suitcase and made her way downstairs.
"Hey, mom." Miriam says a bit of sadness, coating her words, "We have to get going soon. You need to catch your flight to Canada." Her mom replied sharply as if it was meant to hurt her. She had to leave her little town of Havenfall, Indiana, to go to Toronto, Canada.

As they entered the airport, Miriam felt numb as she listened to her mom talk on and on. "I told Ming Lee to pick you up from the airport when you arrive. And yes, she knows about our family's secret. You know why we have to do this, my little pup." Her mother said as she petted the top of her daughter's head.
