As Miriam's plane landed at the Toronto Airport, she felt a tug at her chest that was pulling her heart like a disobedient dog on a leash. It was tight and painful. As the feeling dispelled, she and the other passengers got off the plane. When she got her luggage off the carousel, she felt unwelcome instantly when she saw a woman in a jade green suit jacket with a black undershirt and black pants walking toward her. The woman's hair was jet black, and Miriam's wolf cowered as the woman asked for her name. "My n-name is Miriam," she replied timidly. The woman looked at her and replied, "I'm Ming Lee, and I'll be training you and your wolf. Now follow me." Miriam nodded as she followed Ming to the car.

It hurt to say the last part because her mother could remember everything that happened when she shifted into her wolf when she was Miriam's age.
