Chapter 1: The Mission

This story is being told from Naruto's perspective. As this is my first book I beg that you take it easy on me in the comments, but if not, eh, i'll live. I will just be living a slightly sadder existence, but it's nothing new to me. Jokes aside, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this story. I hope you enjoy it.

As the hours of our time together passed, he eventually spoke, "I'm going to bed, I have a long day ahead,"he said with a sigh "would you like to join me?" I smiled at him and grabbed his hand, "Of course". As we walk to his bedroom, he admits "I am happy we are finally getting some time alone."he spoke while lying down. I laid down on top of him with an oomf. As we cuddled, I heard a quiet /I love you/. But by the time I might have been able to respond, I was already.

I awoke in a cold sweat, my head is spinning and all over my body I feel pins and needles. This is the fourth nightmare this week, which can't and has never meant anything good. Groaning, I turned to see what time it is, only to discover that it was 5:34 am. In a newly soured mood, I headed to the kitchen to get breakfast. Once I've had a nightmare I am unable to re-fall asleep, much to my dismay.

It has been years since he left, get over him why am I still stuck in the past? I mentally slapped myself. I pondered all this while I poured the milk into my cereal, which was a poor choice on my part, because the bowl overflowed. Just my luck. Sighing, I cleaned up the spilled milk, which I did not cry over, just wanted to mention. I then picked up my bowl of 80% milk, 20% cereal, and went to sit down.

Just as I finished my cereal, I heard a squawk coming in the direction of my window. Abandoning my bowl, I ran to open the window, to let the very upset messenger bird into my home.

Once it had landed, I grabbed the letter on its leg, and noticed that it was a message from the Hokage. It read, "Naruto Uzumaki, get to my office as soon as possible, pack a light bag for a one week stealth mission." Immediately, I ran to pack a bag.

On the way to the tower I passed a group of adults, who all looked at me and promptly started whispering.

"Trouble maker"

"Brat"

"Annoyance"

"Demon"

Gritting my teeth, I put on a big smile, and walked increasingly faster towards the Hokage tower.

At approximately 6:30 am, I arrived at the Hokage's office. Letting out a sigh of relief to finally be away from the judgemental stares, I knocked on the door, and a few seconds later I was met with a quiet "Come in". Sucking in a deep breath of anticipation at whatever mission awaited me, I opened the doors and walked in.

"You requested me Baa-Chan?"

"Yes I di- WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT CALLING ME THAT!"

Chuckling, I rephrased, "What's the mission hokage-sama."

Sighing, she continued "As I was previously stating, I did call you here, but what I did not get to say is that this is an A-class stealth mission."

This stopped me dead in my tracks, as she rarely ever sent me on A-class missions unless she had to.

"There have been several sightings of Sasuke Uchiha and you are going to be going to gather intel and to see if these sightings are anything more than rumors. You are to only engage in battle if completely necessary, as your fights are quite destructive. You will be completing this mission alone." That part confused me,

"Why only me, what about the rest of team seven?!" I exclaimed.

"While I would love to send your entire team," she paused "Kakashi and Sakura are out on different missions right now, and out of everyone here, you know Sasuke the best." I thought about her logic for a couple seconds before finally responding,

"Which village?"
