The girl woke up in a cold sweat. Worried, she told her parents about her last dream. They advised her not to hang her head and that the next dream would surely bring clarity.
Reluctantly, she went to sleep the following night. Her father wished her a good night and said that she would find out why the key did not fit, but she dreamt the same dream as last night.
This went on for a while, much to her regret. Every night the same dream. She began to hate her dreams. She slept uneasy and badly all the time. What she thought was a blessing then was now an evil to her. She no longer wanted her dreams to tell her anything.
But that night, when she had already given up hope for a good ending, she had a dream that would change her life.
It started like all the other dreams before. She was in the forest, the key in her hand and the doors that remained locked. But this time something was different. She looked at the key and realized that something was wrong.
It was upside down. She had been holding it the wrong way all along. She turned it the right way and tried again. She put it in the lock, and it fit! Then she unlocked the door.
She let out a cry of joy and rushed to each door to unlock it. "It works!". The key fit every door. She laughed heartily. "How could I have been so stupid? I was desperately looking for the right key, but I already had it in my hand. I just held it upside down and didn't even realize it!". And with these words she stepped satisfied through the first door.
