Harry Potter Summary (Chapter by Chapter, Books 3-7)

Prisoner of Azkaban

(I started with POA, so it will be my first notebook. I might add the previous books later, but for now, I will start with POA, chapter 11.)

Before chapter 11:
Sept 1 - School begins
Oct 31 - First Hogsmeade trip, and Halloween feast. Sirius slashes painted lady to Griffins common room.
Nov 8 - Remus sick.
Nov 9 - Dementors too close. [Q- Huffle beat Griff] Harry spends weekend in med Bay.
Nov 30 - [Q- Raven beat Huffle]
December - decorations already up.
Weekend before Christmas break - Hogsmaede trip on Saturday.

11. Christmas. Golden trio begin looking at old Hippogriff cases in library. Christmas lunch in great hall -- 13 people in Hogwarts. HP receives mysterious firebolt for Christmas and Her tells McG, who confiscates. Trelawney freaks about 13 at table - first to leave is first to die.

12. Holidays over after New Years. Remus begins teaching Harry the Patronus. Hagrid begins teaching about firelizards. Hermione annoyed that HP and R don't know where Remus goes every month. Remus finds buggart in packing case for practice. ("memory broom" – no clue what this was) HP not sure if Patronus will work, because wants to hear his parents when dementor attacks. [Q- Slytherin beats Raven] February. Remus explains dementor's kiss, and how a person can exist w/o a soul. Scabbers presumed dead.

13. Cho Chang – Ravenclaw seeker. Draco taunts HP in great hall before game. HP casts Patronus at game, but dementor was Draco in costume. Sirius slashes Ron's curtain at night – he found Neville's paper with passwords.

14. Neville received howler from grandmother for paper. Hermione helping Hagrid with Buckbeak trial. Saturday Hogsmeade trip under invisibility cloak. Draco taunts Ron in front of Shrieking Shack, and sees Harry's head. HP runs back, but Snape drags away. Snape slanders James (he only saved Snape from Womping Willow to save his own skin from prank). HP yells for him to shut up. Lupin shows up and takes HP away.

15. Hagrid loses his case (Lucius connections), and Her smacks Draco for taunts about it. Trelawney says Her has no talent for Divinations and Her drops the subject angrily. Easter Holidays. HP sees Crookshanks and dog exiting the forest. [Q: Slyth loses to Griff] (("Severus learns huge" -- no clue))

16. June Sultry. OWLS and NEWTS begin. Buckbeak execution set for 6th, but appeal set for directly after exams. Trelawney doesn't believe HP sees Buckbeak alive in crystal ball. Divinations HP exam: Trelawney has real vision about Dark Lord's follower returning to him by nightfall. Cornelius Fudge arrives for appeal (2pm), with old wizard and McNair, the executioner and friend of Malfoy. Golden Trio (GT) goes to see Hagrid, where Her finds Scabbers alive. Execution group (And Dumbledore(D) for support) arrives and Hagrid shoes GT out back door.

17. Scabbers bites Ron (R) as they head back to castle and gets frantic when Crookshanks arrives near Womping Willow. Dog lunges for R leg and drags into Wonping Willow. Crookshanks pressed nob at bottom of tree and tree stops moving for Her and HP to follow R into tunnel. Reach dusty and boarded shrieking shack. Find R, but Black dis-wands them. Black says R must keep off broken leg. HP punches Black, then Crookshanks gets between them. Remus shows up and hugs Black. Her reveals Remus a werewolf and how she was stupid for keeping a villain's secret. Remus gives wands back as show of trust, to let him explain, and reveals Black is a dog Animagus.

18. Wolfsbane was recently created – Snape has been making it for Remus, for D -- and his transformations used to be less controllable. Womping Willow and Shrieking Shack were placed for Remus to be able to attend Hogwarts (was his "shrieking" during transformations). D encouraged shack haunting rumors. Remus didn't tell D that Sirius is an animagus, because their troublemaking during school was a betrayal of D trust. Sirius was one who played prank on Snape – James was protecting him.

19. Snape arrives (found map in Lupin office when taking potion). Snape says he knew Lupin evil, but HP says he could have killed him any time. Trio disarms Snape at same time, sending him flying unconscious into four-poster bed. HP demands explanation. Fudge gave Sirius Egypt paper in Azkaban – saw Peter's animagus in Ron's hands – finger also missing. Crookshanks is one who stole passwords for Sirius – cat knew Scabbers not real rat. Sirius let Peter be the secret keeper for HP parents, and returned to find a broken house. Lupin and Sirius undoes animagus together. Peter stayed rat to hide from Voldemort's (V) followers, who blame him for sending V to death. Not kill HP right under D's nose. [Her calls Sirius "Mr Black," which makes Black jump] Sirius came to Hogwarts out of worry for HP safety from Peter – lit an "obsessed fire" in Sirius – because will kill as soon as he knows V powerful again. Sirius had swum from Azkaban as dog – brain was too animal for dementors. "He slept in my bed" – R says. HP stops them from killing Peter – Azkaban instead, and clear Sirius. "Ferula" bandages R leg.

20. Leave the Shrieking Shack through the Whomping Willow [in order: Crookshanks, R (with Lupin holding up), Peter, Snape carelessly drifting by Sirius and Her spell, HP]. Sirius asks HP to live w/ him, HP bumps head in shock but says yes, and Sirius surprised. Exit into moonlight. Sirius tells them to run. Peter transforms and runs, Black tries to run after him, werewolf Lupin runs into woods. HP and Her find Black injured at lake w/ 100s of dementors. Her passes out. HP only manages incorporeal patronus. Sees a familiar person on other side of lake, casting a corporeal Stag Patronus, before passing out.

21. HP overhears Snape and Fudge: Order Of Merlin to Snape for saving GT, Snape says they were bewitched but should still be expelled, he was the one who conjured stretchers to bring them to castle. Pomfrey tries to give then chocolate, but HP and Her busy insisting Sirius innocent – they go ignored. D arrives, having spoken to Sirius. D kicks the others out of the room; tells the GT he was the one who told ministry Sirius was the secret keeper and Sirius hadn't acted innocent by going after Peter. D addresses Her: "you must not be seen," "three turns should do it," "currently 5mins to midnight," "I will lock you in," and he leaves. Her pulls out time turner and they go back, Her explains her term w/ McG. Goes down to Hagrid cottage (have to wait until Fudge sees Buck before they try to save him, or else will say Hagrid let him free). Sneak Buck into trees. Watch scene at Whimping Willow, sees Snape grab HP's invisibility cloak. Hide in Hagrid hut from werewolf. HP goes to see figure at lake, because Prongs is for Stag – his father. Her follow with Buckbeak. HP saves Black from dementors. Wait the night. Sees Snape wake up and take them back up to the castle. Sees McNair come back out to grab dementors, to kiss Black. Use Buck to fly up and unlock window for Black to flee. "You are your father's son" – Black, flies away with Buckbeak.

21. Run back to hospital wing. Dodge Peeves, who is throwing water balloons everywhere, McG running after him. Arrives just as D tell them he will lock them in. Pomfrey finally forces them to eat chocolate. Snape arrives back to scream at HP b/c he knows he freed Black, but D "couldn't be at two places at once" – "Man seems quite unstable," says Fudge, not giving Order/Merlin anymore. Removes dementors from school, since they had tried to kiss HP, too, at the lake. Suggests dragons as guards this time, and D says Hagrid will like that very much. HP asks that Her explain everything to R instead. Doesn't go to Hogsmaede that weekend. Hagrid tells HP that Remus is leaving – Snape told whole Slyth house about him being a werewolf. HP goes to beg him not to leave (Remus confirms that "Prongs" from his animagus Stag). Gives map and cloak back to HP, since he isn't a teacher anymore. D tells him the carriage has arrived; Remus finally told D all their secrets from school. HP tells D he worried that he didn't make difference, Peter still escaped; "You made all the difference in the world – you uncovered the truth." Mention Trewlawney prediction ("Ah, I believe that is her second true prediction" – D) Dum says father would have saved Peter, too. "The dead never truly leave us – your father lives on inside you." Draco furious about werewolf, Percy furious about Sirius escape, and all except Slyth sad about loss of good DADA teacher. Gryf wins final Quid, Hermione drops Muggle Studied (officially too much work, and gave turner back). Announce Quidditch world cup over break. Owl arrives on train: Sirius tells about Firebolt, give Hogsmeade permission slip, and gives R the owl. HP mentions to Dursleys that his godfather is notorious mass-murderer Sirius Black, who would want him to be happy.
