21 months. 638 days. 15312 hours. 918720 minutes. 55123200 seconds.

Peter's brain always did unconsciously processes math. It worked even faster now that it was beaten into him.

Count. Count. Count.

Count the minutes. Count the seconds. Count.

At first, he had refused everything they wanted him to do. Especially the killing. But now he knew it was just easier to comply than to fight. Because either way you were going to do what they needed, your only choice was if you got a beating or not.

Killing was the hardest. After that, were the videos.

The Dark Room was a scary place. Especially on video day.

On video day, most of the usual rules didn't apply. They would hurt you until they had their fill. They would make you scream at the camera.

Peter didn't know what happened to the videos after or their purpose, but he knew if he didn't scream and cry he would get it even worse.

That was probably the biggest difference between video day and the rest. If you so much as flinch on regular days... well it wasn't pretty.

He got used to his routine. It was the only source of comfort he had. Things didn't change. Ever. The only difference was video days and even then he eventually learned the rules for those too.

Everything was as good as it could get when you were kidnapped by Hydra. Until he got a new trainer.

The winter soldier.
