Dan Howell woke up that morning, and as always, he just wanted a quiet day of browsing the internet with his best friend. He reached over to his laptop, which was on his dresser, nearly falling out of bed, all because he didn't want to walk over and get it. That's when he got a text, and with a yelp, crashed to the floor. Groaning, he stood, rubbing his nose bitterly. It didn't hurt that bad, but he had only just woken up and was determined to make a mountain out of a anthill.
When he finally got to his phone, he blinked a few times before his vision cleared of drowsiness and his phone screen was bright and easy to read. The text was from Cat. It was a simple, "Hey." He swiped right to reply, yawning and typing quickly. His response was "hry." He didn't bother correcting the typo, then went to get dressed, walking out to find Phil preparing some cereal. "Typical," he laughed at his friend, who practically jumped out of his skin. "Dan!" Phil cried, placing a hand dramatically on his chest. "You can't just float in and scare me!"
"Oh, I was floating, was I?" Dan giggled.
"Yes! You didn't make a single sound. Are you secretly a ghost?" Phil reached out to poke Dan's stomach, confirming that he was not, in fact, a ghost. Dan rolled his eyes and passed Phil to pour his own bowl of cereal, and the two ate breakfast together, watching anime on the TV.
They were in the middle of an episode of "Tokyo Ghoul" when Dan's phone buzzed again, and he whipped it out automatically. Again, Cat. "We should hang out today." He was typing before he knew what to write, and he found himself sending "okay, what time?" before he remembered that he had wanted a lazy day of doing nothing. Phil had leaned over and was reading over Dan's shoulder, waggling his eyebrows at his friend. "You've got a date?" He teased, grinning. Dan stiffened, head turning slowly. "What?" He began to stutter. "N-no! No I d-d-don't!" Phil opened his laptop, which he'd fetched from across the table while Dan was texting, and glanced at his friend once more before becoming absorbed in the interwebs. "Sure."
Buzz.
New text from Cat.
"Like a date?"
"sure."
