Ace
I take a deep breath and release Constance, not wanting to cut off her blood flow or something.
"I've had the guys take him to a warehouse nearby, do you want to go?" I ask her.
A lot of stuff happened last night, she might not want to face her offender.
She pauses and thinks for a couple of minutes.
"Yes, I would like to go." She tells me. "But on one condition."
I raise an eyebrow, I asked her to go, she doesn't have to.
"Go ahead," I tell her.
"I want to be the one to get the information out of him," she says.
I raise my eyebrows in surprise.
To be honest, I would expect her to be hiding in the room crying and regressed.
Not wanting to go beat a man half to death.
"Are you sure?" I ask her, I don't want her to make a rash decision and regret it in the future.
"100%," she says confidently.
I pause to watch her for a minute, carefully looking for any sign of hesitense.
Nothing shows so I set her on the ground.
"Let's go get ready to go then," I tell her.
I follow her back to the bedroom and watch her pick her clothes out of the closet.
She grabs a pair of black, tight shorts and an oversized gray shirt.
I go in behind her and grab a pair of cloudy gray jeans followed by a black muscle shirt.
"If you get uncomfortable at any time, I need you to tell me, okay?" I tell her. I'm worried that if she isn't careful, she'll break down and he won't end up telling us anything.
"Okay," She smiles and follows me out to the car.
The sky is cloudy and dark, showing that it's going to rain soon.
I really wish that she didn't want to do this.
I just want her to be my baby, she doesn't need all this extra responcibility.
I don't know how she's going to handle it.
Sighing, I pull my car out of the driveway and pass the open gate.
"How far away is it?" She asks me, her wide, green eyes looking up to me.
My heart softens, I would do anything for this girl.
"It's about ten minutes away," I say softly.
She quietly nods and looks out the window, a harsh look on her face.
She's hardening herself, getting ready.
Has she done this before?
And if she has, then why?
Constance
Ten minutes away.
He's ten minutes away.
I pull my hands into fists, pushing them against my knees.
I can do this, I've done this a million times before.
He did this to himself, he did this to me.
He deserves it.
"Can we stop by Starbucks?" I quietly ask Ace.
"Yes, of course," He responds, making a quick left to make it.
We're there in minutes. The line is surprisingly short.
"What can I get you today?" The lady from the monitor asks.
"A London Fog Tea Latte, please," I tell Ace and he tells the lady.
Soon enough, we're at the window and she's giving it to us.
I take a sip, letting it calm me down.
I'll be okay, I'm always okay.
Ace continues our drive to the warehouse.
We get there in a couple of minutes, the building surrounded by silent warehouses.
Ace quickly hops out of the car, coming around to my side and helping me out.
I stare up at the large building.
Dirty windows cover most of the wall, brick filling in where the windows don't sit.
Two double doors stand about 10 feet away from each other.
Noah stands outside one of the doors, holding it open for us.
"Are you ready?" Ace asks me, a comforting hand on my waist.
I take a deep breath before answering. "Yes, I'm ready."
Ace leads me to the door, passing by Noah and earning a cut smile.
We make our way down a short, dark hallway.
Glass lays on the floor, crunching under our feet as we walk quickly.
Windows to what used to be offices are smashed.
The walls are spray painted with small sayings and some designs.
I recognize some of them, not all.
Filing cabinets are knocked over, laying helplessly on the floor, drawers open.
Double doors sit at the end of the hallway.
We make our way to them and Noah opens it for us.
Ace looks at me one more time as if to ask if I was sure, I nod curtly at him and face forward, my eyes falling on the man who was standing over me the night before.
Red slowly fills my vision.
This man, the one in front of me.
He's slumped over, a grey hoodie covering most of his body with jeans.
A lamp hangs over his head as if to show that he's the one on the stand.
My body freezes, ready to act but hesitant at the same time.
Ace's hand makes its way to my waist again, reassuring me that he's there if I need him.
Taking a deep breath, I step forward.
Hearing my movement, the man's head shoots up.
Blood drips down from his nose, his neck and left eye darkened by bruises.
Seeing me, he smirks triumphantly.
"Haven't had enough of me, huh?" He asks.
My hands bunch into balls at my sides, my nails digging into my skin.
"No," I growl angrily. "Not nearly enough."
