YOU HAD come to find that the transfer student's name was Kokonoe Arata. Despite being repeated by your teacher and the gossipy girls in your class, his name, however, seemed a bit too fitting— as if he was called something else at some point. Regardless, as you stood in front of the class, out of breath and with two rolled-up tissues up your nose, you too ended up reciting his name with a forced smile and a tightened fist. Your teacher and your peers all just laughed at your dismay while you adjusted the bag in your arms, expecting an eye roll from him or something of the sort.

Kokonoe simply looked at you, nodded, and looked away.

Your mind was begging him to at least say something so that the awkward air in the room could go away, all while trying hard not to explode at your teacher for making you a form of free entertainment (like that stupid moonwalking cat video you caught him watching the other day). Regardless, Kokonoe's reaction seemed to get everyone in the classroom to go quiet, and soon enough, your teacher made you hurry to your seat. A seat that was merely a few desks away from the new transfer student.

"Well, now that Komiya has joined us, I can announce the field trip to Tokyo's Metropolitan Government Building," your teacher stated with a slight tone of amusement, watching as a wave of silence erupted into excited chatter. You could feel your stomach shrivel up as you sat down— your father worked there. Before you could dwell on the idea of not going, something hit the back of your head. You didn't have to turn around to know who threw it. Shinozaki Yoichi and Sonoda Shingo were the only two friends you had, which sounded a bit pathetic when said out loud, but you never really tried to make any in the first place.

You reluctantly turned your head to find them holding back laughter and gesturing to the paper ball behind your chair. With a sigh, you turned back to face your teacher, keeping your eyes trained on him while you quickly leaned down to grab the crumbled-up page. You peeked over your shoulder again and found that they were now intently watching you with contorted faces. As much as you hoped for them to get ridiculed like you were, you'd probably just get roped into it. You rolled your eyes and finally opened it up, deadpanning at the shitty handwriting.

We're going to blow it up.

It didn't take long for you to realize they were talking about the government building. You couldn't help but wish they were competent enough to do so. You looked back at them and gave them a look that only riled them up even more. They gestured for you to flip the paper over, and you somehow already knew what it read. Blow up their bathroom. It's the only joke those two had been making recently and you couldn't help but feel annoyed. Before they had a chance to react, you chucked the paper back at them, hitting Shinozaki in the eye. The yelp he let out echoed throughout the otherwise silent classroom, and you knew you'd be standing outside the classroom momentarily.

"Look, all I'm saying is that they're going to be serving the limited edition Kururin drink at the cafe and I think it's beneficial for us to try it," whispered Sonoda as you fidgeted in your spot to try to keep your legs from falling asleep with a grimace. It had been almost ten minutes since your teacher kicked the three of you out into the hallway and made you sit in seiza while scolding you all to keep quiet. Sonoda and Shinozaki, however, had been through the same punishment far too many times to be uncomfortable, and at that rate, you were sure their legs were made of steel.
