Why did this happened?

Charli told me to meet her at the park which wasn't that far away. On my way there, I started to panic. What's going to happen? Should I really try to confess again? She's happy with Light but he treats her so badly. Always insulting her or ignoring what she says. When I get there she hugs me tightly and welcomes me with a big smile. I can't help but feel flustered, this is all I want. I hug her back and notice that Light is looking away. I should be the jealous one here, he has the one person that I love. I go up to Light and greet him. We're in the same squad, I don't know why it was so awkward. He's pretty short so he looked up and locked eyes with me.

"Hey Luca, while we're here can we talk? It's nothing serious!" Light says.

After that I knew it had something to do with Charli. I did not want to talk at the moment but I didn't have another choice. Charli went to get us all ice-cream so we were alone. We sat down at a nearby bench and he started to talk.

"What's been happening lately? You've been so distant, you haven't talked in the group chat and you weren't in the past 10 videos! You know you can talk to me, right?" he says.

Oh, he wanted to talk about this? I start to get sweaty, I don't like talking about these things. I've been overwhelmed lately, my thoughts and feelings are all over the place. I tell him that I'm fine and that I just needed a quick break to clear my mind. I continue telling him that things have been complicated lately and that I didn't want to talk about it.

I quickly try changing the subject by asking about Charli. I ask how their relationship has been going, that's all I could come up with.

"We've being pretty good, she's the sweetest person I know. I'm sure you already knew that, since you guys are best friends. Don't you have a crush on her?" Light says in a serious tone.

My heart sunk, he knew that I liked her. Had he already planned this conversation? Was he trying to make me tell the truth?

"Uh, yes she's very sweet. What makes you think that I like her?" I say, stuttering a bit.

"You're always around her, you never leave her side. Whenever someone talks to her, especially me,you get upset. Man, I know how you feel. I'm not mad at you, we can't control our feelings. Same thing happened to me, but Alex ended up with him. I'm not mad about it though, things like that happen all the time." he tells me, making sure I don't get upset.

Before I could say anything, Charli comes back with the ice-cream. She could only carry two of them so she hands me one and keeps the other one for her and Light to share. I give mine to Light, I felt guilty. He knew how I felt towards Charli, he knew that I liked his girlfriend.

"Luca, that ice-cream was for you! Are you not hungry?" Charli tells me with a frown on her face.

I quickly made up something to say and told her that I didn't feel like eating at the moment. I told her that I ate before coming here, which was not true.
