His Secret

Am I Dangerous

I sat Emily down and explained to her why I've been coming home late.
"So this is going to be hard for me to tell you because it's been a secret that I've been hiding from you for years.."
"Jake just say it"
"So first comes the real reason why we are together. So I got with you because you were in danger"
"What?.."
"Your great grandfather was a German spy who came to America to seek shelter. He had just discovered some important but dangerous information about what the German government was using him for. Ever since the German secret service has been after him and his family. This is going to be even harder to tell you this but your cousin who died a few years back actually died from an attack from the Germans..."
"Wait this is too much. How do you know all of this and why should I believe you?"
"I know this because I work with the American secret service and that's how we got to be together. I needed to get close to you so I stared to become your friend but I developed feelings for you. My parents worried it would distract me from the job but I told them it would only make me a better protector."
"Okay..... I don't really believe you. This all sounds fake. I'm not even German."
"Yeah I know you weren't going to believe me but that's why I have to show you so let's go to my bakery."
We got into the car and I took Emily to the basement. It had all the paper work we have been doing.
Emily's POV:
We walked in and I saw all the papers up on the wall. It was like walking into a movie where you see the detective who has been obsessed with the guy who killed his wife. I got chills on my back. This was now becoming a little bit too real.
"Wait so you're in the secret service and you're only with me because someone wants to kill me?!"
"Well at first I was with you because of that but now it's both. I love you for real okay."
"So if you're now staying late because of you're real job that means that something happened that's making you think I could be in trouble?"
"Yes. But! I'm here and so is my family. We are here to protect you."
"Jake. This is fucking messed up! Are you kidding me. You think I'm suppose to believe that you actually love me and that I'm not just a case to you!?!"
"You aren't! I love you okay. I really do. I'm just also suppose to be protecting you. And so is my family"
"Are you kidding me. Are you kidding me!! YOU THINK THATS REASSURING? It feels like our relationship is a joke. Like it's all fake."
I started to cry. I knew everything Jake was telling me was the truth but just the thought of him being forced to be close to me and maybe even date me just made me believe he never loved me and with me being in danger I'm afraid he'll even forget I'm his girlfriend. I was crying for about a minute before Jake tried to comfort me but I pushed him away
"Please I need some time to think about this and our relationship.."
"Please Emily you have to understand."
"Understand what Jake. You lied to me for years. And you've told me that you love me and care about me how am I suppose to believe that you actually do."
And with that I walked out. I had to take time to think about everything and whether I can still be with him.
