After 40 minutes Drew was lifting 90 pounds. "Is it too heavy yet?" I asked, not waiting for a response, just dropping more weight onto it. He never complained. After an hour of adding constant weight to the bar, we moved on to a different activity. "Okay. Now I want you to do 100 pull ups so we can leave" I said, his normal happy look dropped momentarily, but he quickly regained his composure. He took half an hour on pull ups, but I think he took more time on purpose. As we were walking out of the gym, with our duffle bags slung over our shoulders, he stopped walking "do you wanna go to dinner with me? I know this great pizza place right down the road-" he rambled, but I stopped him "Drew, no. Your wife just came here and accused you of cheating. And now you're inviting me out for pizza? I don't want to be the cause of drama in your marriage" I stated, he looked down for a few seconds "well we've been talking about a divorce for a while now. And I just thought having a friend would be nice. But it's fine" he lied, and started walking towards his car. Hoping I would stop him, and I did. "Wait Drew, I'll go to dinner with you" I said, stopping him from entering his car. He smiled and gave me the address to the pizzeria. Something was telling me that the divorce was a lie, but I didn't let it affect my decision.
