Coming back to your senses, you quickly moved away, but he grabbed your arm and pulled you towards him again. With your heart practically in your throat, you managed to get out the words "W-what is it?"

He glanced at you, then you saw his eyes move to your forehead. He gently placed his hands on your forehead and examined it, moving even closer. His face was only inches away from yours. The dim bar light highlighted his eyebrows scrunched together in concentration. Blinking up a storm, you hoped he wouldn't hear your heart hammering against your chest.

"Seems to be okay. Your face didn't get injured", he confirmed, moving back.

"W-well, then I'll be heading home now...", you mumbled, flustered

"Home?", he asked, tilting his head

"Yes...?"

"My assistant won't be coming with me tonight?", he asked.

"Assistant?"

"Well, I suppose it is better if you go home."

What do you mea-", you stopped, realizing what he meant.

"Oh!", you blurted, No! I mean, yes! I'm coming! The Darknights Hero's assistant is coming.", you said, hurriedly grabbing your coat and rushing out the door before he could say anything else. You completely forgot about him being the Darknight Hero.

Softly chuckling to himself, Diluc followed you out the tavern and into the moonlit fields of Mondstadt.

You kept your eyes peeled, vigilantly scanning Mondstadt's meadows for any sign of trouble. You and Diluc had been wandering around, looking for a poor citizen caught up in an ambush. But you couldn't find anyone. Mondstadt's nights were surprisingly chilly but the temperature did nothing to cool down your burning cheeks. Unable to forget how close Diluc had been earlier, your heart could jump out of your chest at any time. The fact that he was walking right next to you didn't help either.

You could feel yourself getting warmer and warmer. "Do you feel....hot?", Diluc suddenly asked, taking you by surprise. Hot?? How the heck did he know?

"Hot?", you scoffed, hoping to play it cool. "I don't feel hot! If anything, I actually feel.....warm.....", you trailed off, noticing that the temperature was actually rising....

"That's weird...why is it warm outside?", you murmured.

"I think I know why", Diluc responded, staring straight ahead. You followed his gaze and saw a faint, but definitely visible, stream of smoke. "A fire?", you wondered, following Diluc as he ran towards the smoke.

Nearing the smoke, you realized it was definitely fire. You and Diluc ducked behind a large tree. You observed the flames burning bright red against the dark night sky. You squinted, trying to get a better look and to your surprise, you recognized the people around the fire. You pointed at them, wide-eyed.
