I don't like the smell of hospitals, it smells a little too sanitary and all the doctors have a wonderful smile, it's really funny when they know you're dying but they act like everything is okay.
Once Levi checked in he sat down next to me and started tapping his foot on the ground. He was very noticeably nervous, and I kinda felt like I should have tried to comfort, but I knew little to nothing about him.
"Is my heart racing," he asked as he turned to me. I was so confused but I put my hand to his chest anyways and nodded. "Shit," he got up and started pacing in front of me," help me calm down," he looked at me, his eyes looks like they were begging for sleep.
"Uh," I was trying to think quickly," here sit down."
He immediately followed my orders, then I got up and pulled my phone out. I frantically typed into the YouTube search box and clicked on the video I was looking for. I pulled my earphones out then plugged them in.He began tapping his foot again, but faster so I sat on his lap and handed him an earphone. He seemed so surprised to have me sit on his lap, he even held his breath as if he didn't believe this was real.
"Well put in the earphone," I said as I put mine in. I held my phone up so we could both see the video.
This was my favorite poem, and it seemed to calm him down because I couldn't feel his heart racing on my shoulder anymore. I guess that's what Shoulders by Shane Koyczan can do, it's absolutely brilliant.
Before we knew it a nurse opened the door and announced Levi's name. I stood up letting him leave as I sat down again.
I really do like him, it's so strange because I know my heart was racing the whole time, I guess this let us bond more because we have a whole lot of together time.
