Even though Marina desperately wanted to speak to Feyre, she needed to calm herself down first. The dinner hadn't gone as bad as she thought it would, mostly thanks to Elain and Azriel. But still, Marina was mildly enraged by Nesta's behaviour and intimidated because there was a fucking High Lord of Prythian in her house.
So after she and Elain were done cleaning the dishes and had put away the leftovers from dinner, she went straight to the music room. The melody she played this time wasn't slow or pretty, it was fast, full of anger, vulnerability and shock. Marina was out of breath by the time she finished her play.
She had put all of her emotions into this melody, and now she felt ready to speak to her sister and her companions properly. She knew which room they were in, judging by the voices sounding through the door. Marina took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for what she was about to do.
Before her thoughts could make her turn back around and go straight to bed, which wasn't a much better option, she knocked on the large wodden door. Not Feyre, but one of her companions, Cassian, she believed, opened the door. She sent him a look and the large male stepped out of the way, letting her enter the room entirely.
She surveyed the room, and the people in it, first, before speaking. Feyre, Rhysand, and Azriel were seated at the big mahogany table on the left side of the room, several papers in front of them. Cassian was standing behind her, surveyeing her. She shot him another look, raising her left eyebrow. But unlike her sister early, she had small smile on her lips and her eyes had a friendly look to them.
Turning back around to the three Fae at the table, she finally spoke up, "I'm here to speak to Feyre. Only, if it's no trouble of course, I'm sure you're all very busy." Before Marina could turn back around and leave the room, Feyre called out, "Rina, wait." That damned nickname made her stop dead in her tracks. It had been years since someone had used it, and hearing it made tears shoot up in her eyes. She blinked them away as best as she could.
She turned back around to face her youngest sister. "I've missed you", Feyre told her. "I've missed you, too", soon enough the sisters were back in each others arms. When they let go of each other, Marina stayed as close to Feyre as possible. Her youngest sister was the only person she allowed to touch her, and after seven months without direct skin to skin contact, she tried to saviour every moment she could touch her sister.
Feyre gripped her hand and led her to the bed on the left side of the room, the one behind the mahogany table. Feyre, too, savioured every moment she was near her eldest sister. After just sitting there for a few minutes, Cassian decided to ask the eldest Archeron a question, "Was that you we heard playing the piano?" "It was, indeed", Marina nodded at the large Fae. "The music was quite lovely", Rhysand inserted himself into the conversation.
Marina snorted, "No, it was not." Upon the questioning stares she received from all Fae in the room, she went on, "The melody was too fast, too filled with emotion to find even one decent tact, and I made it up in a haste." "Maybe it wasn't lovely, but it at least sounded real", Marina send the High Lord of the Night Court a warm smile.
The next hour she spent conversing with her sister, one of her companios occasionaly throwing in a question or a comment. Marina didn't mind, she found the three males to be quite friendly. Feyre told her in more detail about her new life. She told her of the Night Court, the beauty of it. Feyre also told the oldest Archeron of how she had come to stay with Rhysand and his court. Turns out the High Lord of Spring was quite the asshole.
Marina could tell by the way Feyre spoke of Rhysand that she had romantic feelings for him. Feyre might not know of her own feelings for the High Lord, but Marina knew her sister too well for something like this to go unnoticed by her.
"Perhaps you can visit sometime", Feyre told her eldest sister, smiling brightly at her. "I'd love to", Marina smiled back. When she shot Rhysand a questioning look, the High Lord shrugged at her. Marina supposed the gesture meant that he was content with her visiting, if she wanted to.
"What abou you?", Feyre asked her. "What about me?", Marina shot a question back. "What have you done while I was away?", Marina thought of what she could tell her sister. "I've been playing the piano, meeting with friends, taking strolls in the forest, nothing out of the ordinary."
"What about the dagger you have strapped to your tigh?", Cassian decided to ask. Marina shot him a look, telling him to be quiet. But Feyre had already shot her a questioning look. Marina sighed, "Old habits, I suppose."
She turned to Cassian, "How do you even know about the dagger?" "Cassian can smell weapons on a person from a hundred miles away", Azriel told the woman. Cassian grinned at her, and Feyre decided to ask her sister another question before the Illyrian could make an inappropriate comment.
"In all the months we haven't seen each other, have you found someone you could imagine spending your life with?", Marina chuckled at her sisters question. "No, Fey, I haven't. And I don't intend to do so. I'm perfectly happy without a man by my side."
The two sisters continued their conversation for a few minutes, before Marina felt her eyelids begin to grow heavy. She let out a yawn. "I'm going to excuse myself to go to bed. It was lovely talking to you, Fey." Marina couldn't help herself and placed a kiss on her sisters forehead, something she had done often while Feyre was still a child.
Marina wished Feyre and her companions a good night, before leaving the room and making her way to her own. She sighed as she went to bed, knowing that nightmares would plague her sleep as soon as she closed her eyes.
