- three years later-
My name is y/n l/n! Thank you for this opportunity ma'am!" you bowed at the older woman in front of you, your heart was pounding, you felt nervous; your hands felt clammy and your cheeks beamed red.
"Oh, no problem dear! I'm going to head out and do a few donor pickups! I left a list of the things I need you to do on your desk!" she smiled warmly before heading off opening the glass doors into the cold winter morning.
" got it!" you felt a surge of confidence run through your body, you had just started a new job at the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library. Today was your first day on the job.
"list... list...list... ah! here it is!" you scanned your new office. It was right next to Mrs.Yuji's, the sweet old lady who just left. You've only met her twice and she was always so kind to you, so you wanted to try your absolute hardest to do your best.
Picking up the list you scanned what she wrote on the yellow post-it note.
" dust the shelves, water plants in the front put up books on the cart, lock up."
"That's not that bad." you thought
"Okay let's get started! "

You decided to start with watering the plants in the front of the library which was odd considering it was the middle of a cold winter in Tokyo, however, after some quick intermission of research you found out they were pansies, the cool purple on the petals and yellow center caught your eye.
smiling to yourself, you walked to put back the watering can that Mrs. Yuji specifically told you to use at the interview.
" I'm back!" Mrs. Yuji called as she sat at the receptionist's desk in the front.
you hastily walked back to the front seeing the old women eating onigiri from the shop, not even two blocks down. " welcome back!' you chirped
"The place looks so much cleaner! I haven't been able to dust those darn shelves since they're pretty high up there for this old woman!" she laughed at her joke, you only smiled seeing how she reminded you of your grandmother back home.
" Thank you ! I was finishing up putting up the books in the cart." you laughed sheepishly
" Oh dear take a break, you wouldn't want that pretty face to get wrinkled! ahh look at the time, I'll be leaving now my cat probably misses me!" she laughed getting up from the chair, " you can handle yourself, for lock-up, can you?" she asked, smiling," Absolutely, you go ahead Mrs.Yuji! you assured as she smiled and waved leaving you once again.

while putting up books, finishing up the last of your duties other than locking up, you realized how smooth everything has been going today. Considering the library was in a consistently moving city it was practically empty. Only a few people came in and out checking out books but they left within a 15-minute time frame. " Ahh speak of the devil, a customer." you thought
The soft jingle of the bell at the front of the door rang, you slowly looked over and saw a tall man with glasses wearing a medium-length lab coat, his hair was a mess and his shoes were dusty black. His glasses lying lazily on his face as he pushed them up.
you paid no mind to him as he seemed to be looking for something and so you decided to give him some space while he browsed. Meanwhile, you finished putting up the books on the cart and sat in the check-out area for whenever he was ready.
the sun was setting and you couldn't help but let your mind wander, the colors of vermilion and purple reminded you of home. staring out the window you heard an abrupt sound of a man scolding someone on TV. Your mind immediately switched," who is that?" you thought,
" This " superhero" of society is nothing but a menace! look at the destruction of the buildings of his newest duty! absolutely ridiculous!" the man on the screen shouted.
the screen panned to buildings broken and webs scattered everywhere, you rolled your eyes as soon as you knew who the man was talking about " spider-man." you curse in your head
Every person seemed to love him but, all he did was cause issues and bring mess, you understood he meant good but the recklessness of his actions was child-like.
" Excuse me... I need to check these books out." the man said placing three books on the desk
His voice brought you out of your trance however As soon as you were taken out of a trance, you were soon put into another one. This man was handsome.
you felt your heart pound and face heat up
" Keep it cool, keep it cool, keep it cool!" you yelled in your head
" yeah not a problem.." you breathed out nervously, you grabbed the books and scanned all of them trying not to make eye contact with the blonde in front of you. However, he wasn't even paying attention to you but instead the TV of the man ranting about the rambunctious superhero.
This gave you a clear chance to see him better, his eyes were a honey brown and his hair was blonde with his natural hair color peeking through, his lap coat stained, and in bold letters his name tag...
"Miya atsumu." you spoke aloud, he turned to you " yeah?" he said surprised you knew his full name
"O-oh! uhh, your books! yeah! umm here, the due date is in two weeks.." you spoke weakly, handing him his library card and books.
" Oh thanks." he smiled, making brief eye contact with you leaving the warm building.
as soon as the door closed you felt a part of your soul leave your body
" I can't believe I accidentally read his name tag out loud !?" you slapped your forehead.
" he totally thinks I'm weird.." you mentally screamed
looking around you found yourself realizing the time " oh it's time to lock up..."
you swiftly turned off all the lights and made sure everything was in its place before feeling satisfied, opening the door and flipping the sign to closed, the cold hair made your skin tingle from being cozy inside all day working.
" Finally.." you breathed out locking the door, stretching a little.
your first day was over.
