There is this myth of Pygmalion that fell in love with Galatea, his own art, specifically the statue of a woman he created with his very hands.

Aphrodite is said to have brought to life the statue, making the love between the artist and art possible in a physical manifestation.

Now what of I told you that Medusa was all stone when she met the love of her life? Would you believe me?

Million of years after Perseus turned her to stone and beheaded her, a local museum of Seoul found the two parts: the body and the head.

A middle age man, alone and with a lot of financial problems decided to restore the head where it belonged.

And the moment he placed it on the body of the statue, Medusa came back to life.

The man fell for the woman with the snakes on her head. Because he saw beyond her appearance.

But he didn't know something about her. And she kept the secret as much as she could.

She was bearing another soul in her womb. Poseidon's son.

She gave birth to a healthy baby and raised him along with her human partner. She learned how to live like a normal person in the modern society.

However, she knew Poseidon will come sooner or later after her baby.

She begged for help to the Queen of Egypt, saying that she would do anything to keep the baby safe.

Nefertiti refused. It wasn't in her interest to protect a half human half cursed baby.

"That baby you hold so dearly in your arms is the product of the man who brought you sadness. Why would you want to protect such creature? The spawn of the devil that took away from you the most important thing to a woman... "

"He is my son, not his. He is my creation. As a mother, Queen Nefertiti, I thought you would understand me..."

That was Medusa's anwer.

She held the baby at her chest, kissing him with love and left the place in tears.

Six year the boy lived with his mother, having no idea of his origins. He was taught how to hide his ugly features and powers.

He was like a normal kid. But he wasn't allowed to go outside, to play with other kids. Medusa knew that if he revealed himself, the kids would freak out.

-Jisung! Jisung, we're leaving!

The boy opened his eyes confused. It was the middle of the night when his mother woke him up in a hurry.

-What?

-Jisung, you need to go with dad, ok?

-Why?

-He will take you to a safe place. I will come after that. Please! I can't let him take you, she begged.

-Who?

-The man that hunts you. Your real father, Jisung, she said with her head down.

-My real father?

In the 7 years old boy's mind nothing made sense. How could she threw a bomb like that in the middle of the night?

-Why aren't you coming with us? I'm not leaving without you! Jisung started crying holding on to his mother's dress.

-Please, Jisung! You need to go. He found us!

It was too late. The god of Sea himself came to claim his son after waiting for him to grow old enough for training.

Under Medusa's horrified eyes, Poseidon appeared in the room and grabbed the boy harshly by the arm. Then both of them disappeared.

Five years Jisung stayed there. In the Pacific ocean, living on isles and being punished and tortured for his mistakes.

Poseidon wanted a demigod, a powerful creature to match his other great creations such a Polyphemus and Charybdis.

But Jisung was just a child, a half human, doomed to live a miserable life because of his eredity.
Medusa spent those five years looking for her son.

In the end, she reached for Nefertiti's help once again.

-I'm beginning you! Help me find him.

-How do you know he's not already dead?

-Even if he's all a skeleton now, I want to hold him in my arms. Isn't that what to be a mother feels like? How further would you go for your own son?

Nefertiti's face expression softened.

After raising Minho, she realised Medusa was as desperate to keep her son safe as her.

-Let this be the last time I see you, Medusa. I'll help you, but I don't want to ever see you again before my eyes.

Poseidon's thirst for power was boundless. He wanted Jisung to gain more and more power for him to turn in his personal weapon.

When Medusa reached to her son, thanks to Nefertiti's help, she was horrified by the wounds his fragile body had.

All because of Poseidon's gluttony.

She first checked his ears, seeing the dry blood around them.

He could barely hear anything because of Poseidon's training. The mermaids broke his hearing.

That's why he couldn't hear his mother calling for him to wake up.

He opened his eyes and saw her, but no emotion plastered on his face.

She hugged him tightly before noticing the numerous cuts on the back of his neck.

-Jisung? Jisung! Look at me, baby! she cupped his face to keep his attention to her hands.

She started mimicking her question.

-Fa-father wanted to unlock the hydra, Jisung finally spoke. He said I have a regeneration power, but I can't control it. Therefore, he tried to cut my head to test his theory.

Medusa started tearing up, her soul breaking at Jisung's words.

Then she saw his ankles and wrists.

All red with flesh that seemed that it was tied up with a harsh rope.

Torture. She knew very well what that meant. All to awake the beast lying within Jisung's body.

They escaped with the help of Medusa's mortal partner.

They moved away and went to several doctors to give Jisung his hearing back. He was lucky cause he could still hear some noises. He didn't lose it all.

However, the man that Jisung was really considering his father, the mortal, was in danger because of them.

Medusa insisted for him to live in another city. Her and Jisung were monsters, but he was human and a human life was more fragile than a monster one.
