━━━━━━ "NEVADA?" GEM CRIED. "By yourself? Does Clay know? Does Sloane know?" She questioned her son through her open car window.
"Clay knows, Ma— me and Bobby are heading up. And let me worry about Sloane, a'ight?"
"You live with her Jackson, the least you could do is tell her you've crossed state lines." His mother sparked up a smoke, catching the surprised look the former doctor girlfriend sent her son.
Tara had brought the cutlass in for a tune up after it had sat in the old garage for so many years, her father unable to drive, given his constant state of inebriation.
She was unaware that Jax lived with her coworker, of course she had his address, he wrote it down on the admittance papers, but he hadn't mentioned living with a woman, a gorgeous one at that, but why would he? It wasn't like it was any of her concern.
"I'll call her when I have crossed state lines, it'll be a lot harder for her to kill me."
At his mother's look, he elaborated. "Her best friend from college is in town and she asked me to have dinner with them, I told her I'd go." Jax admitted sheepishly.
Gemma shook her head— leave it to her son to ruin a good thing before it even started. "Jackson..."
"I know, I'll make it up to her."
"Your girl does everything under the sun for you and you ditch her to go get your dick wet."
Jax cast a glance at the woman awkwardly standing to his right, the doctor looking away from the two, in favor of peering out through the gates.
"Mom." He said sternly.
"What?" His mother asked innocently. "Surely, the good doctor knows that you have plenty of pussy keeping your bed warm in the time she's been gone."
Tara was grateful for the sudden called of her name, well her earned title, as the, new to her, prospect ran with a clipboard in hand. She politely excused herself from the crude conversation, grateful for the distraction.
"What in the hell is your problem?" Jax rounded on his mother as soon as the prospect had his ex's full attention.
Gemma shrugged coyly. "What do you mean? I don't have a problem with the doctor, my grandson's savior."
"No, you have a problem Tara, the ex."
"You're damn right, I do. Jackson, in case you don't remember, that little bitch abandoned you and who had to pick up your broke pieces, huh? It was me and Sloane."
"In case you don't remember," Jax sneered. "Sloane left not long after Tara did."
"Try two years after, you moron. Do you even know what she gave up to be with you? She put her dream career on the back burner as soon as you needed her. She worked in the office and went to college online those first few years until she had to leave to complete her clinicals and she came right back— for you."
Jackson growled. He was aware that he didn't take the breakup as well as he could have, but it's not like he kept the girl from leaving town, she had chose to stay.
