I was very excited about taking on my first case I had everything ready I was  set   even wore my favorite silk 3Pc pants suit pink. I have reviewed my files for 2 days prior to the month that they said was sent waiting it was labeled faulty. I had three names for my  witnesses. It had Taken me 2weeks to find everyone. Even witnesses from Albuquerque. The preliminary hearing would be in the morning. The preliminary hearing they decide to go on with a trial in a day. I had 24 hours to make and break this case. Called my first witness he approached the stand looking very assured of himself I kind of like that so I went on with the questioning answer where are you from I am from Albuquerque he said I went on to ask the next question and what are you doing Albuquerque he stated I only farm and we get up very early in the morning objection the persecuted said just answer the question as stated the judge said I only farm. Very good and then I pissed the persecutor off and what time do you get up in the morning sir 4:00 he said thank you I said I proceeded to the next question. afterwards I asked him the state's name for the courts he stayed in his name and then after that his name was Mr Mason styles he was 49 years old by this time it was 10:00 we had started 9:00 a.m. sharp . He was taller than he looked rustic and everything he did or  say , no task he's he's even done a period a bit spoiled long fingernails so I asked what did he do for a living eggs he owned an egg farm small big medium white brown speckles you named it he had about a thousand different chickens he said he grew their fees so he's worked did everything pretty good he made a great living so you were up pretty early for 4:00 a.m. he repeated wasn't it dark yes ma'am he responded so I stopped them there and said do you recognize the defendants he said yes I asked him to point them out and he did so and then I proceed to ask him the next question what time did you see the defendants around 7:00 a.m. I was up 3 hours about to go back into the house when they drove by stop to view my farm how did you know they stopped to view your farm he then said they stopped right in front of my phone the only state briefly what happened next the strangest thing he scratched his head and said that time of morning we always have traffic that goes straight to the main road they stopped and got out pop the hood the gentleman did can you point him out yes he said and she pointed Mr and Mrs thorn Dunlap yes ma'am
How do you know it's them he called your name when he got out of the car and she responded with his name. I called the company representative Mr Brent braddore can you state your name for the courts I am Mr Brentwood on 53 years old and what exactly do you do and the company's representative and what did the company send you to do to find out what happened and did you sir yes I did and can you tell me the best of your knowledge what happened yes ma'am I can we send out the park that they ordered and a few weeks later we sent out a letter stating that it was a call back for the parts it was a whole entire brakes they were coming apart and can you remember what time that you sent out the letter yeah it was on a Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. replace it into the mail so that means it would have gotten to them and more than enough time are you sure of that yes I am he stated as if he was annoyed can I see the paperwork he said yes and he passed me the paperwork Mark that exhibit a we did so it had the time and date as he has stated no further question you may step down to just said before I could call the next witness we were asked to go to recess intervene 3 hours later. He came back from recess I was ready you may call you next witness but just said I call Pauline Schaefer Miss Pauline can you tell me what did you do on the day of Tuesday upon arriving to work on the date of the incident about the recall of the brakes I came into the office and Mr Brent braddore asked me to mail out the letters to everyone on the list for the recall and I did and can you tell us the name of the 30 people yes I can she pulled out a piece of paper and she called the names when she got to Mr and Mrs thorn Dunlap I said thank you very much and before she was asked to step down I asked her what time does she mail it out and she said 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday say thank you and the judge asked her  step down and she did so. Counsel do you have any questions for the witness no I don't he stated she's answered the question I was going to ask thank you Mrs Schaefer she smiled and she went to her seat. It was 3:00 p.m. at the time we got through calling the witnesses I had a few more on my list I finally called the next witness the post office delivery driver Parker Chryst. Can you state your name for the courts my name is Parker Chryst and can you tell us in May what day did you deliver the mail to the defendants it's October 25th now give me just a second I have my paperwork she said oh yes I remember it was May 6th I delivered it to Colorado springs so on May 6th you delivered Mr and Mrs  thornDunlap Mail and can you tell us what the mail was yes it was a letter from New York from the company that service in service you means sales parts and could you see what it said yes it says that they were recalling brakes the entire brakes are you sure yes I am when we were asked about it they found out who did the delivery and it was me and I made sure okay so how often do you deliver the dunlaps mail every week actually okay and you are sure it was May 6th yes I am all right thank you give me a step down unless the council have any questions yes I have a question what day did you get the recall letter I got it on the same day so it came from the post office to your hands to the Dunlap yes it did okay thank you no further question. It was not until the next day that all the witness in the five-car pilot was called Shelly Wilkerson miles Stella Bree l e w k s Taylor dates and s t a f e a d Winters their ages arranged from 25 35 4133 and 19 they're all seeking a cash award for their pain and suffering and the totaling
of their cars. Tracy Rollins and council d e n d a e s t e i n s did sidebar with the judge after each statement we both agreed that something was not right I asked for a recess 20 minutes the judge agreed afterwards I called Mr Dunlap can you set your name for the records it's Mr ThornDunlap and how are you I'm fine and how old are you I'm 59 and Mrs Dunlap she's 63 how well do you get along and get along good just fine and where do you work. I was about to call the next witness when I looked in the back and I saw this well dressed woman about 48 50 winking at him so I called them back up Mr Dunlap do you check your mail yes I do do your wife check your mail no I mostly check it and on the morning the of the arrival of the call back letter who checked the mail that day answer the question sir I did and was the callback letter in it answer the question sir yes it was the crowd started whispering in the courtroom so you got the letter what did you do with the letter we're waiting I place it in my neighbor's mailbox so that my wife wouldn't know that the brakes were called back so what mailbox did you place it in Beverly Stratford's is she here in the courtroom yes she is can you point to her he pointed to the lady that I winked at him and who is Miss Beverly Stratford to you she's a friend and is she a friend of your wives no they don't get along and why don't they get along I don't know he said that's just a woman thing okay let's get back to what you stated before that you place it into her mailbox why would you do something like that like I said I did not want my wife to know that the brakes were out you were going to go on vacation with your wife and you know that they call the brakes back and you did not alarmed about it no I did not he said can you tell me why I was having an affair and I wanted her gone you wanted her gone how do you mean you wanted your wife gone he did not say anything you're honest he has to answer the question so you have to answer the question I want it while we were on vacation for us to have an accident Mr Dunlap do you know that perjury I'm not lying I wanted her gone she's old and tired and Beverly she makes me feel young and alive so how long were you having an affair with Beverly he looked at Sarah his wife Mrs Dunlap a year we were going to get married after the accident so responsible for the five carpile up I guess I am did you know that you had warranty a factory warranty on the parts yes I did so why would you do something like that I have already answered you ma'am so you have no remorse for almost killing your wife and yourself that's negligence do you know that you're going to go to prison maybe but Beverly will come and see
me. Sir take a look at your wife she loves you I care about my wife but I love Beverly. Mrs is Dunlap started crying. I'm sorry Sarah but we didn't have any kids and she has two for me two for you Mr Dunlap yes those kids are mine. Your honer due to  the nature of this case can we have a recess yes. After court we went to get something to eat myself and v e n d a e s t e i n s and we talked about the case because of this case we became very close I know we're on opposite sides but this case. I think I like being a lawyer it's sad he has a family and she has nothing but what are you getting at Tracy he said she's old and the neighbor down the street make some feel young and she has his kids and they don't have any kids there's nothing you can do about it now he's confessed he's going to go to prison he's younger than she is too vendae said to me. Why would he put it in her mailbox I guess so she can know what's going on so she knows that the brakes was faulty and she didn't do anything about it she should go to jail as well you have to prove she's gotten the letter maybe he's just saying it how you going to prove that I don't know but I have to try wow I thought we had seen it all this is very sad but one good thing Mr Dunlap will definitely on the business. Well that is a plus maybe she'll find someone younger who knows we ate supreme subs and had chicken noodle soup and a beer Miller lights
Pretty good for your first time thanks can I ask you a question how did you know he was cheating she was drinking at him in court wow what are the odds of that well sometimes it is like this you just have to get used to it I will.
