To Anyone Who Might Care

Tiny fingers wrap around my thumb as the small boy tries to pull me down the hallway. He looks back at me with big bright eyes.

"This way," he urges.

A laugh emerges from me. Something I haven't done in a while. Fuyumi follows after us.

"Shoto, be nice." She says.

I wave her off a little. "It's okay."

Shoto continues to pull me down the hallway towards Touya's room. I haven't seen him all afternoon, Natsuo mentioned he was in a bad mood. He's been in a constant bad mood since Shoto was born.

I don't blame him.

The small boy knocks on his older brother's room. Silence fills the hallway. A heavy thud breaks the quiet as Touya rips open the door. There is a scowl on his face as he makes eye contact with me. They slowly move away from me and down to Shoto who is still gripping my hand.

"Touya, I bought you your friend." He says with a look of hope in his eyes.

"You stole my dreams, and our father from me, and now you're trying to take my only friend as well!" He snaps. "I wish you were never born."

He storms off down the hallway. I pull away from Shoto and chase after him. He walks out into the backyard and I grab him by the shoulder. He whips around glaring at me, there are tears on the edges of his eyes.

"He's only a child, why did you say all of those things?" I ask.

He smacks my arm away. "Because it's all true. Since he came along nothing has been the same. My own father sees me as a failure."

"But you're not. You're going to be the number one hero." I tell him.

"I know that! I'm going to show him, I'm going to show all of you." He yells.

I reach out to him. "I'm not doubting you,"

He takes a step back, shaking his head. "Just leave me alone. You're just as bad as the rest of them. How you fawn over him and treat him like he's the best already."

Anger starts to bubble in my stomach. "That's not true!" I finally snap. "I treat him like your little brother. A child. I treat him the same as Fuyumi and Natsuo."

He grips the sides of his head and yells at the ground. "No! You're lying."

His head snaps up and he stares me directly in the eye. There is something different about him. His hand shoots out and flames engulf me.

A scream echoes from the house, followed by frantic voices but my mind is somewhere else. Lost somewhere between anger and sadness.

"Your pathetic flames don't hurt me," I scream at him, taking a step out of them.

The jumper I'm wearing is melting off me, exposing the heatproof clothing underneath. Plasma pops and bubbles off my skin.

"Are you trying to hurt me?" I sob. The tears evaporate before they leave my eyes. "I thought you were my friend."

He takes a step back, eyes wide with fear. A dark figure finally steps in between us and my plasma fades away. Endeavor glares down at me.

"Stop being childish," his voice booms.

My mother comes running from inside the house. There is anger and disappointment written all over her face. She grabs me roughly by the arm, already pulling me away.

"I told you not to use your quirk!" She yells at me in front of everyone. "You're dangerous. You could've hurt that boy."

I pull back on her hold, she stops dead in her tracks. I stare down at my feet, the tears drip onto the grass and I can feel myself trembling.

"I'm sorry," I sob quietly.

She squeezes my arm tightly. "Good, you've disappointed me."

I shake my head. "Not you," I turn and look back at Touya. "I'm sorry I yelled at you."

He blinks a couple of times, looking a little confused. "What?"

A small smile comes to my face. "I'm sorry for yelling at you. I hope we can still be friends."

"I don't think that's a good idea." Endeavor says.

"I agree. You've obviously given my daughter deluded ideas." My mother sneers at Endeavor. "You and your hot-headed son."

She drags me from the yard before anything else can be said. My heart sinks as Touya just stands there.

The weeks pass without me seeing anyone from the Todoroki family. I become lonely as the divide between my parents and me grows even further.

One night a quiet crash comes from outside and I get up to look out my window. A hooded figure is scrambling to pick up a trash can. A tuff of white and red hair catches my attention. I quickly grab a sweater and sneak out of the house. I jog down the road after him, making sure not to lose sight of him.

I follow him for what feels like hours until they finally stop by a small creek in the forest. I hide behind a tree and watch as he pulls the hood from his head. A heavy sigh leaves him and I watch in silence for a moment as he starts training. His control is getting better but I notice how red his hands look.

"Touya," I say softly stepping out.

He spins around so quickly, eyes wide. "(y/n), what are you doing here?"

"I followed after you," I admit.

"Why?"

"I miss you. I miss hanging out with my friend."

His eyes narrow. "I'm a little busy at the moment." He snaps.

I give a small nod. "I'm sorry for bothering you. I just wanted to apologize for that night again. I didn't mean anything I said. I was just upset with you."

His face relaxes a little. "I know." He says. "I'm sorry as well. I shouldn't have yelled at you like that, I'm just so over that brat."

I move a little closer to him. "It's not his fault."

He tenses up a little. "It's all his fault," his voice is laced with venom. "If he wasn't born, my father would still be training me."

"He didn't ask for any of this," I take a hold of his hands, examining them. "You need to be careful with your skin."

He pouts. "That's easy for you to say. Your quirk doesn't hurt you."

"That's not true. Do you realize how much energy I use to create my plasma? It's exhausting because I don't eat enough to keep up with it."

He frowns. "But you always ate so much whenever you had dinner with us."

I let go of his hands. "That's because my mother doesn't really eat because of her quirk and my father works a lot so he's never home to eat. I think my mother is doing it on purpose so I can't use my quirk."

"I can bring you food, my dad's never home so my grandmother looks after us."

"Where's your mom?"

A pained look crosses his face. "She's in hospital. Dad thinks she needs to be there right now. She poured boiling water on Shoto's face."

"What? Is he okay?"

"He's fine but with mom not being at home anymore I can sneak out and do training." He explains. "I'm going to show him that I can still be the number one hero."

I sit down in the grass and pat the spot beside me. "Can you give training a break for one night and just hang out with me?"

He thinks for a moment before dropping down beside me. "I think I can do that but I'll need to train extra hard tomorrow night."

I give him a forced smile. "I'm sure you will."
