TWS: this poem is abt rape so pls proceed with caution
"Why didn't you tell someone?"
"Did you say no, or tell them to stop?"
"Oh, well what were you wearing?"
"You were asking for it!"
You see, if I told you the story
From beginning to end,
From the first or the fourth time,
Would it make a difference?
So instead, maybe I'll paint you a picture
A picture of a 12-year-old girl
Walking home from her best friend's house
Her feet ruining the fresh coat of snow
When she hears it
3 of them
3 pairs of feet
3 different voices
3 men
Having heard the stories and watched the new
She knows to speed up
Her feet carrying her faster and faster
And yet she still can't escape
The rest is a blurry photograph
It comes in quick flashes
The 34 minutes of agony
That seem to last a lifetime
She sees the one with the brown hair
Who constantly tells her
"Oh, you're doing so good."
She remembers the blondie
The one who almost seemed as if
He felt bad
But mostly,
She remembers the one with the mustache
The leader
The one who went twice
The next thing she knows
She's lying to her parents
Saying that she and her friends were out in the snow
And that's why she looks like a mess
I didn't tell anyone
Because I refuse to be looked at
As the girl who went through this
And, therefore, needs pity
I screamed and I yelled
And I said "NO!"
More times than I can count
But they never stop
I wore sweatpants and a sweater
Not a bathing suit
And even if I had
That does not change, nor justify, what they did
Stop blaming the victims
We do not send you a text
Inviting you to do these things
We do not deserve this
PLS LEAVE ME CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISIM AND GIVE ME IDEASSSSSSS
