Standing up, I find myself struggling for words.
"I... How did..." I stammer.
"Hanna, take a- oh wait," Captain tries to calm me down and as I try to breath, I find I don't have to.
"Oh.. Hanna, what a beautiful name you have.." The tall boy exclaims. "My name is Thomas. Thomas Thorne and you have my heart in a knot!" That was a bit straight forward?
"umm.. Sorry, where am I? Who are you people?"
"We be the dead ones," A medieval looking figure says as she points her finger at me. "My names be Mary!"
She looks at me and smiles as though I've just arrived at a lovely hotel in Florida. Not just died.
"That's.. nice? I'm Hanna. Hanna Uris.." I've not said or even heard my last name in so long. This feels like a dream. Like I'm going to wake up at any moment. My 'breaths' get shorter and quicker whilst I process what is happening.
"Hanna, perhaps you should," Captain starts.
"No! You don't get to tell me to calm down! You left me! You left me!" My voice getting louder as I speak.
He goes quiet and looks down; brushing his moustache with two of his fingers as he does so.

"I wasn't ready to die yet!" I cry and run into the house, leaving my old life behind; starting another.

—————

Two weeks after I died, I was greeted with a surprise. I walked into the courtyard and saw a car. the soldiers had made a memorial for all of the fallen and wounded. Cap was in the centre of the memorial and I was nowhere to be seen. Of course I wasn't; I wasn't a soldier, I wasn't brave. Just a girl whose dad died too soon.

I know all of the ghosts who live here now. Robin. He's a caveman... I think. He can make lights flicker in the living world. They can see the lights of course, the living people. The problem I found that I face is communicating. Sometimes when I try to talk, I feel that I choke on water. It's as if it's there but it's not. I also have an ability when I go through people. Although it makes me feel sick, it makes living people go cold. Humphrey. He's a headless guy. Literally... Mary, a woman from the middle ages, also has a strange ability like mine. When she walks through the living, they smell burning. I think that has to do with the fact that she was burned to the stake. Kitty is a kind woman. Although she acts and speaks as though she's eight, she's quite sweet. We share a room. Then there's Thomas. Not like I would expect it. Even though I'm just turned seventeen and he's late twenties; or hundreds if you count how long he's been dead. He got shot. I know no more than that. Only that he has a hole through his chest.

Me and cap haven't been talking as much as before Havers left. I miss him. So does cap. Havers was like a dad to me after what happened on my birthday.

I want to cry and never see another human or ghost again. Thomas makes that hard though. Do I like him? Yeah. Would I ever get with him? No.

I've done so many tests since becoming a ghost.

1. Going through walls ✅
2. Haunting ✅
3. Communicating 🚫
4. Touching other ghosts ✅

I feel as though I've been in this state for so long. Even though it's only been a few weeks so far, I feel like I've been dead since BC. Well, Robin has.
