I walked off the bus and Oliver followed me. I looked around for a minute trying to figure out where to go. He walked up and stood by my side and he pointed toward the gates that lead into the school.
"do you have to get your schedule?" he asked. His eyes had a sparkle when they faced me. I found myself getting lost and not answering his question. How embarrassing.
"Oh, um yea, i forgot about that," i said nervously. I then started to walk into the school and then to the front office to get my schedule. I walked to the front desk and a lady with short black hair smiled up at me.
"Hi sweetie, what can i do for you?" she asked. She had light green eyes and very white skin, she was very frail looking too.
"I wasnt here for schedule pick up, could i get one?" i addressed her. I thought i had come off too harsh but she nodded and smiled and started typing stuff into the computer, the mouse pad she was using had small animals all over it and it was adorable, i caught myself smiling like an idiot.
"Could i get your name love," she said, looking up and smiling again.
"Alice Mitchell," i told her.
"ahh yes! Here you are, transferring from South Lambeth High School, and you are a junior, 17 years old, thats you correct?" she said. It seemed like she read my entire file to me, it was kind of odd.
"Yes, thats me," i smiled. She printed me out a schedule showing 7 different teachers in which i was a bit confused, when I lived in London, at my high school we had 4 blocks a day everyday and our days were very short. Here school went on about 7 hours.
"Great, would you like assistance to find your classrooms since you're new here?" she said. I knew she was just being nice but im not five. I can figure this out on my own.
"No its fine i got it, but thank you," i stated being nice about it.
"Well my name is Mrs. Lauren and im a guidence counselor here so if you ever need help with something just come vist me," she smiled sincerely. "I'm always here and i have 2nd lunch just like you, i need company at times," Mrs. Lauren laughed. I nodded and smiled then left. Oliver wad still waiting for me when i got out. I looked around taking a second look at where i was, and then at my schedule thinking that i might actually need help getting around.
Maybe Oliver would help me, but I dont want to bother him. He glanced at his schedule and shrugged like it was a grocery list. Then he looked down at me, as he was significantly taller than i was.
"Please dont tell me that you're going to try to get around by yourself," he said with a smirk. He was so cute.
"I was hoping to figure it out but now that i actually look at it, i dont think i can," i admitted. He just smiled at me and started to walk, and gestured me to follow him, so i did.
"There are 5 buildings, each one goes in order. If your classroom number is 4-206 then its in the fourth building, second floor and then go from there. If the classroom is 4-106 then its building four and on the first floor. Get it?" he explained. I understood. It wasnt as complicated as i thought.
"Got it," I said. I looked down at my shedule again and looked at the room numbers, and it all made sense. Right as i looked up at him, the bell rang to go to class and we parted ways. Hopefully i would get to see him again today.
...
It was lunch time now and there were people scattered everywhere getting their lunch. I went and stood in one of the lines hoping it was the right one.
"Next!" a lady yelled, wondering who she was talking to. I looked up and realized she was talking to me. Embarrassed, i walked up to her and look at the menu, and ordered pizza. As soon as i got my food i sat down in the courtyard alone and I see Oliver from a distance approaching me with a smile on his face. I started to blush but i looked down quickly before he noticed.
"Are you trying to hide from me," he played around, with a smirk he sat next to me and put his elbows on his knees and looked up at me. My heart melted when he looked at me, there was something about his eyes that made my heart flutter, and i think he knew it.

*Alices dad's POV*
"Look, I left you for a reason and you can't take the kids from me, i won't let it happen," I said to my wife Elizabeth, soon i will file the divorce papers and try to get custody of Alice and Ben. When they were little she was a great mother, and she gave them the love and attention they needed but when Alice turned 10 she stopped caring for some reason. She would refuse to get out of bed to make them dinner while I worked 2 jobs to support everybody, and I had to make Alice cook dinner because I didn't have the time make it, nor the money to buy take out, and when Alice came from home school, she would hit her and call her worthless because of a B she made on a test.
I stayed with her because if I had left, who knows what she would have done to her self, not that I really care anymore because my children matter more to me than anything, and with Elizabeths growing addiction to drugs, I needed to get them away from that environment, I couldn't have them see that, especially Ben.
"You can't take my own kids away from me Dave! I won't let it happen!" she screamed into my ear on the other line of the telephone.
"Well, you better get your ass out of bed and do something about it, because so far, i'm winning," I said sharply.
"There's not shi-" and before she could finish her sentence, i hung up the phone.
"Watch me," I muttered.
