Two weeks have come and gone but here I was stuck in a wheelchair as my grandmother Elena pushed me to the waiting area as she finished the paperwork for my release. I remember everything that happened, from where I got shot to seeing my brother Amir one last time in the morgue. The morgue was the worst as I remember seeing his pale lifeless body.
-Seven Days Ago-
Slowly, my grandmother got a wheelchair so I could see my brother one last time. As she helped me in the chair, she knew that I needed this; she knew I needed the truth to be seen. As we made their way to the morgue, Elena could hear her daughter taking deep breaths and trying not to be upset. Before they arrived Ji-Ho joined them. When they arrived at the morgue's door, Elena knocked and saw the sad smile of her friend Samuel, but without saying anything, he let the three in.
As he stopped in front of the table holding the youngest of the De Jesus children, he turned to them.
"Are you sure you want to see him like this, Elena?"
"It's not for me to decide."
She turns to her granddaughter and her fiance, silent now, but she slowly sees her granddaughter reach out for her brother.
"It's okay for me to touch him, nonna."
Samuel nods and lifts the pale white sheet down to the waist of Amir De Jesus. This was the first time both Elena, Alianna and Ji-Ho saw him look so lifeless.
Amir Leo De Jesus was known as "The Reaper". He would be the last you see before entering the eternal journey and sleep. Amir was the type that would die for you but also cause death anywhere or anyone he followed. The personality of one who loves hard but also forgets to put himself first. He was a wise ass but that was what kept him alive and kept him moving forward to know he had some type of control over his life. Yet our father always gave him the hardest time as he did not want any part of the mafia. All he wanted was to be left alone and be with his grandfather and grandmother. Yet he, too, fell into the difficulty of being mafia royalty, which turned him into a monster.
As she looked at him, Alianna laid her hand on her brother's cheek one last time before she tried getting up and placed a kiss on his head. She fell while doing so, but Ji-Ho caught her before he helped her say goodbye.
As Elena saw the two in this heartbreaking moment, she decided that it was time to visit her ex son in law and explain the situation and the fact that she would like costduty of her granddaughter to come live with her and her grandfather Nico.
"Alianna, my piccolo, let's go. I think it's time I have a word with your father and your other grandfather Christiano."
"Let's go before I don't think I can hold it in anymore. My heart hurts so bad, nonna."
"I think it's best if we leave Elena. She looks like she's going into a panic attack."
"Very well Ji-Ho."
She knew her granddaughter would do something like this but it would be horrible if she turned cold hearted and emotionless. It scared her to see that her granddaughter had completely turned into a new person. Alianna would no longer be the same after this. Her last piece of humanity was taken from her. What would happen now worried Elena, but she knew she could save her granddaughter if she did something fast.
However, when they made it back to the room, Elena wondered if Ji-Ho was ready for the responsibility of High Royal king and to be welcome into a whole nother lifestyle compared to his high ranking mafia. As Ji-Ho sat there with his grandfather, she wondered if he told his family about the debt or not. As the days went her friends came and left. Elena asked if they wanted to go in, but honestly, they said they couldn't stand to be her friends, knowing this would be an outcome. Being a mother, a grandmother and an older sister, she could understand their answer, but a part of her wanted to scream at them for saying that statement.
