The journey began and everything was going as planned. They were 8 hours away from the grocery store. They had planned to spend the night there. There were no zombies in sight and the road was big enough.
They reached the store. There were no zombies or humans in sight.
"Astra here. Me, Acelin and Ella will look around and see if we find any zombies. Everyone else will stay in their vehicles." Astra informed everyone through the radio, which Ruby had installed earlier.
The three were walking to the store and they saw a zombie from the parking lot coming at them. Ella took it down with a headshot. The zombie after 5 seconds, stops moving and becomes still.
They walk inside the store and as Astra had thought, there were no zombies and the food was un-touched. They go back to inform everybody. "Everyone, load all the food in your cars and truck."
It takes them almost 3 hours to empty the entire store. They leave the refrigerated stuff and plan to come back hen they have established electricity.
"Is the store empty?" Astra asks.
"Yes. It is." Ruby replies.
The sun goes down and everyone decides to take turns to sleep.
The next morning they had no time to hesitate. They had to get Solar Panels, lots of them and a dozen buses, cars and trucks.
"Look around everyone. Are there any zombies?" Astra informs everyone. "If none, say 'All clear' starting from car number 2."
"All clear in car number 2" reports Chris.
"All clear in car number 3" reports Kyle.
This goes on till truck number 1.
"We are leaving for Calve store which is two hours from here." Astra informs everybody. "I repeat, we are leaving for Calve store which is two hours from here.
They depart and mid way, they see a bunch of dead people and a dozen zombies.
"Zombies ahead. 12 zombies in sight. Car number 7, car number 9 and car number 13 begin shooting as soon as you see them." she orders while using geolocation that Ruby had installed. The zombies died and became still. "We are resuming the journey." Astra informs everyone.
They reach the Calve store where they had planned to take a bunch of Solar Panels and electrics cars, buses and trucks.
As they did earlier, Astra, Acelin and Ella along with Ruby, Kyle and Mike go and check the store for any zombies. None were found.
Everybody then loads their trucks and buses with Solar Panels and batteries. 16 people take the responsibility to drive the 3 trucks, 2 buses and 11 cars, all electric, that they had found.
The farmland from this place was 5 hours away. They knew it would be easier from now on.
They left for the farmland and the ride went smoothly. A team of 15 people including Astra went in first to make sure everything was safe. There were no zombies or people inside but there was a herd of sheep, a bunch of pigs and some cows, all kept safe by 4 shepherd dogs. All of them were surprised not because the animals were safe but because the shepherd dogs had no visible wounds at all. It was clear that they were very good at their jobs. The dogs weren't aggressive, rather they were patient. Astra looked around and found 9 and a half full, giant bags of dog food. She poured some on the floor and the dogs munched on them. She knew they would be amazing dogs to have on her team and showed all signs of friendliness. Luckily, the dogs did the same. 15 people were divided into 3 groups to look around everywhere on the farm. They looked around in the farmhouse, the storage and also near the forest. This took them 3 hours to do so.
Only after they knew everything was safe, they called everyone in. The farm had a very strong fence and a big gate around it and a part of the forest. Everybody parked their vehicles near the barn and the farmhouse which was even bigger than Astra had imagines.
The sun went down and they all took turns to sleep while the 4 dogs along with Holly, Bear and Cosmo who guarded them.
