Chapter two

I wake up to hear a knock on my dorm door. Then Nina goes to answer it.

"Hi, is Julia here?" I hear a voice ask

"Yeah, she's still in bed. Julia" she calls

"Coming" I answer

I put on my robe and a pair of socks, before walking over to the door where I'm greeted with two students that look around the same age as me.

"Hi Julia! I'm Rose," she gestures to herself "and this is Cedric" she gestures to the brunette standing next to her

"Hi, nice to meet you" I smile

"So, we're the head girl and boy of Hufflepuff and we're just going around to all the new people's dorms to say hi, introduce ourselves, and give information about what's going on at school right now." Rose says

"If you want to try out for our quidditch team now is a really good time, since it's the start of the season and tryouts are on Monday 3:00 on the quidditch pitch. There are flyers all around school for clubs that you can enter as well, if that interests you and we're always here if you need help with anything, just come to find one of us and we will be happy to talk to you." Cedric smiles

"Ok, it's a lot of information but sounds good." I laugh

"Well, have a good day and I hope you enjoy the school" Cedric replies before they both walk off and I close the door behind them

"Someone likes you" I hear Nina say from behind me

"What do you mean?"

"'We're going around to talk to all the new students' 'we'll be happy to talk to you anytime'" she mimics him using air quotes "I have never seen them do that before"

"Well maybe they started it this year" I say

"Maybe" she replies with a smirk

I playfully roll my eyes and look at the time, which reads 8:10.

"Anyway, does class start at 8:30?" I ask

"Yeah I'm about to leave, usually teachers want you there at least 5 minutes earlier"

"Oh fuck I just woke up, and I don't know where my class is"

"It's all good I looked at your timetable and we have the same class. I'll take you there" She smiles "but it's on like the other side of the school so we have to leave soon"

And that was my cue to go into the bathroom to get ready and dressed for the day.

"This is our astronomy classroom, but sometimes we have midnight sessions in the astronomy tower" Nina informs me

I nod in response before we both enter the classroom. We enter the room and sit down to wait for the teacher.

When the bell starts ringing to signal the end of class everyone starts packing up their stuff to leave and go to their next period. Just as I'm about to put my bag on my shoulder, I sense that someone is standing in front of me, so I look up and see a familiar tall brunette standing there in a black and yellow uniform.

"Hi Julia, right?" He asks with a warm smile

"Yeah, and you're Cedric?"

"Yeah, so um I just wanted to see how your first class went here, and how you're settling in"

"It went good, the teacher and seems nice which is always good." I smile

"Ok well, I have to go to second period but I hope you enjoy the rest of your time here." He says as he starts too leave

"Thank you" I reply before turning back to Nina who is looking at me with a smirk

"Not into you, huh" She nudges me

I roll my eyes playfully in response

"So, are you coming to the party tonight?" Nina asks as she curls her hair

There's a Gryffindor party going on tonight being hosted by these twins named Fred and George. Nina keeps saying it's a good place to meet new people.

"Yeah, why not" I reply and roll off my bed

"Does uh...everyone go to these parties?" I ask as I start sorting through my clothes questioning what I want to wear

She looks over at me "are you asking if Cedric is going to be at said party? If you are then most likely yes he is"

"Ok" I reply

The Gryffindor common room is around the same size as the Hufflepuff one but has a lot of red furniture compared to the Hufflepuff one. Nina notices my nervousness and takes my hand in hers with a small smile as she leads me over to a group of people.

"Hey guys, this is Julia she's new this year" Nina says gesturing to me, they all wave and I'm suddenly flooded with lots of people telling me their names

I say hi to all of them and Nina suggests we go and get a drink. I follow her to the drink station where Cedric is standing with his back towards me since he's talking to a friend. I quickly grab my drink and we make it to the middle of the room where there is a makeshift dance floor.

Nina and I begin dancing together as other people from the group come over and join us. As I'm dancing I see two extremely tall red heads making their way towards us. Nina notices them and clears her throat getting ready to speak.

"Hey Connell, who's this person you've introduced everyone else to but the most important people here?" One of the boys asks

Nina playfully rolls her eyes "Julia, this is Fred and George, the hosts of this party and unfortunately my best friends since first year. Fred and George this is Julia."

We exchange hellos and she informs me that it's ok if I can't tell them apart because she still can't and they've know each other for years, which earns a chuckle from both of them.

"Well, we hope you enjoy our party and your time here at school" Fred (I think) says before smiling and and both of them walking away to talk to some other people.

After a while - and a break - we're back dancing again. Through the crowd I spot Maddie and Cedric dancing together. I feel a hint of jealousy but I let it go because I've only known him for 1 day right, why would I be jealous?

After a bit longer people start to feel tried and they start leaving the common room to go back to their own dorms. We decide to do the same and say goodbye to everyone before making our way back to our dorm.

"Did you have fun tonight?" Nina asks me as she passes out onto her bed

"Yeah I did, thank you for the invite." I smile

She smiles back before getting into her bed without even changing her clothes.

"Goodnight" she says turning over to face the wall

"Night" I rely while getting changed before I get into bed and fall asleep as well
