Hi everyone!
I apologise for not updating this anywhere near as much or soon as I should - unfortunately, school life was WAY more hectic than I thought, and coupled with a good 'ol bout of the dreaded Writer's Block, I have come to a sad decision:
I will not longer be able to complete Portals.
I must go back on my word and the book shall remain unfinished.
It was a good run, but safe to say, MCSM has long since past, and I cannot muster up the will to continue.
I am sorry.
Okay, enough with the corny April Fool's joke, every author and their dog's probably done this at some point by now.
NOPE, I'm not dropping this any time soon, I'd never forgive myself.
BUT, I have had (and still do have to some degree) a crippling Writer's Block for some of the other chapters.
That having been said, the next part of this one is a quarter/halfway done, and any of the others will most likely be a lot smaller than previous chapters. I've still been writing though, and feel like I've gotten a bit better at writing short stories.
This will also most likely be my last posted story on Wattpad, save for a few short story updates every now and then.
I love the website, but reading on it's a pain and it's harder to filter out stuff that I don't want to, or am not interested in, reading. I'll still be very active here, however, as I adore the actual writing aspect of it, and my other stories can be found on AO3 under 'LilArtifex' (Portals will most likely remain exclusively here though since it's an old work that I'm happy to leave be).
Rightio, you guys probably aren't interested in all of this blabbering, so as a reward for actually putting up with all of this, here's a snippet for the next chapter...

The group landed next to the Revolution leader with varying degrees of success. Jesse was glad that Petra at least managed to land with some dignity, while Wallace and Jacob landed as gracefully as Blazes and Lukas tripped over Ivor upon touching the ground.
As Jesse and Petra offered them helping hands, Jesse raised their eyebrow at the two new people. They were both men; one of them was dressed in a fancy black waistcoat with immaculate black hair and dark eyes, while the other was shorter and had neatly combed grey hair with a red vest.
Dannie smirked. "Could've stuck the landing a little better, don't you think?"
"Oh, we stuck it alright," Lukas groaned, rubbing his head. "Just not the kind of stuck you're thinking about."
She snorted. "I stand by my word."
Jesse frowned. "Hey, come on, he tried-"
"Are these our Other Worldly visitors?" the shorter man asked politely, tilting his head. "How nice to finally meet you in person. Dannie's told us quite a bit about-"
The taller man huffed. "She hasn't told us anything, by the looks of you. For instance, she never mentioned that he's an Alchemist-" The man jerked his head at Ivor, "- And she's a warrior." The last comment was directed at Petra, who folded her arms defensively. He tilted his head. "A rather good one too, by the looks of it."
"How did you-?" Jesse began, but Dannie cut them off.
"Don't mind Stone, he does that," she grumbled. "It's his little 'gift'. Can tell a thousand words about you just by a single glance."
"That I can," Stone cut in coldly, looking the group over. "For instance, I can tell you're quite clearly the leader," he said, directing his attention to Jesse, who met his eyes with their own narrowed gaze. "And that you're not as incapable as you seem."
"Uh... thanks, I guess?" they replied, a little taken aback.
