Chapter 6- Tiny bit of romancing

"When it is dark, let's search for that well and whoever finds it first, wins! What do you say? Ms. Second place?" Taehyung suggested

"That's a little too much, Taehyung. What if one of you gets lost? Y/n, what-" Ji-ah was about to ask me but stopped when she saw my eyes sparkled with excitement 

"CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!" I said with excitement 

"What did we even expect," Jimin, Jungkook, and Ji-ah said in union 

"Then let's do this, I heard there is a path through the forest which passes by the well. Let's take that path and search for the well, in this way no one will be lost, and maybe, we'll be able to find the well too"

[A few hours later]

"Students, you all will be divided into a group of two. There is a small path through the forest so remember to follow only that path and don't go anywhere else. It's 5 pm now, you all have time till 7 pm. Once it's 7, I want everyone here for attendance. Don't try to be a hero and take any other path" The teacher instructed

"I can't believe we are in the same group" I spoke in disbelief holding the '6' numbered paper

"As if I wanted to be in the same group as you" Taehyung replied as he too held the '6' numbered paper

"It was supposed to be a competition!" I whined

"All right, everyone. Your time starts now, make sure to be back before 7 pm, stay with your partners and always follow the path. Go now!" The teacher said and every one replied with an energetic 'yes'. Looks like everyone is desperate to meet a ghost at this point. We walked down the path in the forest, although it was not yet dark the forest still was scary. The sound of crickets chirping, the cold wind blowing and hitting our skin giving us goosebumps, and the leaves of branches of the tree rustling creating an unpleasant sound

"Guys! I've asked the uncle and he said that the path to the well is from here" A student said pointing at the path which lead into the jungle off the path we were supposed to go

"Let's stick together and walk down the path. Once we find the well, we'll return" Another student and everyone seemed satisfied. It was just 5 pm now so I didn't mind as it was better than helping everyone back at the camp and Taehyung was ready as always. We took the way off the original path which lead further deeper into the forest. 

It was getting dark and no one had noticed till we heard some weird noises making everyone stop in their tracks. Taehyung stood next to me and exchanged a glance with me. 

"It's just an owl. Let's continue to move" One of the students said making the others nod. We continued walking till we stopped... in front of the well. I thought it was just a story... who knew there would be an actual well. What if there is a real ghost who lives inside it?! I gulped the lump that formed in my throat. Just then I felt as if someone held my hand. I looked next to me and realized it was Taehyung. My heart which was beating fast previously because of the fear calmed down. 

"Even if we are challenging each other, you are still my teammate. Stay close to me, Ms. second place" He said looking ahead. I nodded slightly at his statement 

"There's the well! It'll be 7 pm soon, so let's hurry" 

We moved towards the well with hesitating steps. The well was strangely in the middle of the forest with no trees around it. It was 6:37 pm and the sky already had a shade of dark blue in it indicating it was going to be night soon. 

"Hey! Throw a stone in the well to check if there is someone inside or not" A student said

"You crazy? What if the stones hit the ghost and she curses us?" 

"Just do it already! We don't have much time!"

Not wanting to yet one of the students picked up a stone and threw it in the well. For a moment nothing happened till we heard some rustling sounds. Everyone started taking a step backward and so did we until a group of bats came out of the well and started flying around which everyone including me and Taehyung mistook for a ghost. And that was the last straw for everyone. Yelling at the top of our lungs, everyone started running back towards the camp. 

Taehyung held my hand tight as we continued to run when my ankle twisted as a result, I rolled down a steep slope dragging Taehyung along with me. Everyone was too busy running to even notice us. 

[At the camp]

Author's POV:

Exhausted after running so much, the students took a deep breath as they reached the camp. Everyone came towards them to ask what had happened. But before they could say anything, Jimin said something which made everyone's eyes go wide in shock 

"Where are Y/n and Taehyung?!"

[Meanwhile]

I opened my eyes slowly and found myself lying down. I was about to stand up when I felt a sharp pain in my ankle. That's when I remembered that me and Taehyung rolled down the slope while running because I twisted my ankle. I looked over at Taehyung who laid unconscious next to me. 

"Hey! Taehyung... wake up!" I sat tapping his cheeks but no response. My heart started beating fast. Is he hurt? Tears started welling up in my eyes as I kept tapping his cheeks

"Taehyung-g... are you-u dead? Don't-t then... you aren't-t allowed... don't-t do this... wake up-p... please-e... wake-e up... please" I said on the verge of tears thinking he was badly hurt. Just then he opened his eyes and looked at me with a slight smirk

"Why? Would you be sad if I die, Ms. Second place?" He teased me only to get slapped by me in return making him confused

"Why would you slap me?!" He almost yelled as tears rolled down my eyes. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head in the crook of his neck. 

"Hey-y, Y/n? Are-e you okay? Why are you-u crying?" He asked 

"Don't-t ever joke around like this! I thought you died-d! I-I was so scared-d" I said sniffing making him chuckle 

"Fine, I won't. Stop crying now, I'm not going anywhere"
