Chapter 9- A song for you

"I wasn't, because he was with me... all the time" 

"You weren't scared?! Who was the one who cried her eyes out while-" before he could say anything further, I stopped him by saying,

"I'm gonna stop you right there!" 

"Y/n, Taehyung, are you both alright?" The teacher asked drawing our attention

"I'm alright but Y/n has a sprain in her ankle" Taehyung replied

"Alright. Inform the forest department that they are fine and also to send a doctor" The teacher instructed one of the students 

"Yes, sir!" 

"Taehyung... I'm not sure if I should punish you for keeping such a challenge and getting lost or should I reward you for helping Y/n and yourself get out of the forest safely" The teacher said massaging his forehead

"I vote for the second option," Taehyung said

"Me too" I replied

[Time skip: Evening]

Everyone had gathered around the campfire. Today was our last night here which is why everyone was sad but we decided to enjoy the moment. Ji-ah, Jimin, Jungkook, and I sat on one side of the campfire, and Taehyung and his hyungs sat opposite to us. The fire glowed bright enough to give us warmth and its orange light. The atmosphere was comforting with cold winds blowing.

"Everyone! This is the last night of our field trip. Even though we faced many difficulties, we all were together in the end. So, let's have a memorable night!" The teacher said as everyone started cheering. There were students dancing and others cheering them, many were grilling marshmallows, cracking jokes, narrating stories, and what not. But everything lit the mood up and I couldn't help but smile and enjoy too. Hours passed, and everyone had taken a seat, tired after all the activities. I looked at Ji-ah and she nodded. 

"Everyone... sir... Y/n has written a song that she wishes to share with everyone by singing it. Is that okay?" Ji-ah questioned looking at everyone waiting for an answer

"YES!" they replied enthusiastically as I stood up and went inside the tent to bring Jungkook's guitar which I had borrowed from him. I sat in my previous sit and looked around where everyone waited for me to start. 

"I named this song, 'With me'" I said 

Taking a deep breath and closing my eyes, I started playing the guitar while I sang, 

I didn't know anyone at first 

It was you who held my hand and were with me 

But that wasn't it, we started arguing and arguing and arguing 

Years passed, and you still like to tease me

And I still like to argue with you 

What have you done to me? 

I don't like you, but I don't like you away from me

When I was lost in dark with no one around me 

You embraced me saying, don't worry 

You did not laugh seeing me cry, you cried with me

When we were scared, you screamed with me 

When we were happy, you laughed with me

You were the friend I always needed

Because you were always with me

I finished singing the song and heard nothing. Did they not like it? I was about to open my eyes when the sound of loud clapping entered my ear. I opened my eyes and looked around to find everyone clapping with a smile plastered on their face seeing what made me smile as well.

"Y/n! I almost cried!" Jimin whined making us laugh

"I didn't know you could sing so well! Did you write this song yourself?" The teacher asked as I nodded

"It was probably the best self-written song I ever heard!"

"Thank you, sir"

I looked at Taehyung who was already looking at me. With a small smile, he clapped his hands before getting up and going somewhere. I looked at his disappearing figure among the tents. It was quite dark by now, everyone started returning to their tents. Handing the guitar back to Jungkook, I stood up and left the campfire before Ji-ah could ask me anything. 

I searched for him in his tents and other places but he was nowhere to be seen. Many tents were empty as many of them were still at the campfire when someone pulled me inside one of the tents. I was about to scream but stopped when I saw the person in front of me. It was Taehyung.

"Were you searching for me, Ms. second place?" He asked teasing me

"Don't you dare call me again and yes, I was searching for you" I replied making him chuckle a bit

"For the first time! You accepted something I said in the first go! It's history in making no... history is already made!" he said being dramatic making me roll my eyes

"Now I really regret agreeing to you" I said making him laugh

"Anyway, why were you looking for me, Ms. second place?" That name again! Instead of arguing again, I took a deep breath before saying,

"You didn't even appreciate me for the song"

"I did clap!" He replied

"People clap even when they don't like something!" I argued back. There was a moment of silence which was broken when Taehyung said,

"Why did you write a song for me though?"  

"Was it that obvious?" I asked making him nod

"I just wanted to thank you for helping me in the forest. Even though we always compete, I'd be lying if  I say that you didn't make me smile more than anyone. Also! It's always boys writing songs for girls, today... I just broke that rule!" I said in excitement making him laugh 

"You are too cute" He said pinching my cheeks before hugging me making my eyes go wide

"Umm... Taehyung... do rivals do this?" I asked 

"I don't know about rivals, but it's quiet common among friends, Ms. second place" He said which made me smile as I hugged him back 

"Y/n, you are so short that I need to bend just to hug you. I feel bad for your boyfriend who would have to kiss you like this" He said chuckling making me roll my eyes 

"Also... take the song as a part of challenge too" I said to which he did not reply anything instead I felt him loose his grip around me as he finally let go of me. I looked at him confused. Did I say something I wasn't supposed to? Before I could say anything further, I heard Ji-ah and the other calling for me

"That's Ji-ah. Taehyung, I'll see you later!" I said leaving the tent 

'Every time I try to get close to you, you always draw a line between us. I see you smiling on the other side and I feel like that smile will disappear if I cross the line. Should I be selfless and stay behind the line or should I be selfish and cross the line between us? But what is it that scares you so much, that you draw a line between us every time?'
