The walk down to the auction house was lovely. The sun was so pretty. When we finally got there, I was immediately disappointed. None of the horses struck my fancy. We kept walking along the pathway, when I saw him. Throwing a fit, bronking at everything, Jet black silky coat, white stripe across his face. I needed him.
"Aunt Myra! Look at him!"
"He's gorgeous dear, but if you wanted a horse, maybe settle for a calmer one?"
Without thinking I ran to the man handling him.
"Where are his papers?" I asked.
"He don't got no papers." The man replied with a twinge of annoyance.
"Well how is anyone supposed to buy him?"
"No one is buying him. He's to stubborn, so we sold him to the slaughter house."
I felt rage bubbling inside me "I'll pay twice what the slaughter house payed!" I looked to my aunt for support, be she wore and expression of shock, but it quickly faded as she came to stand beside me.
"No good, no good. Triple what the slaughter house paid." The man said
"Fine. And how much would that be?" Aunt Myra asked
"500, 000 €"
Aunt Myra looked very shocked. She looked at me, and tried the best puppy eyes I could. And they worked because she said:
"Alright. We'll pay your price."
I tried my best to keep myself from screaming. I was so happy we bought this horse! Aunt Myra and the man worked out the money part, while I went to go soothe him
"Shhhhhh. It's ok beautiful. No one is going to hurt you anymore."
I looked at him coat, and upon further inspection, we needed a vet. Aunt Myra came beside me and looked at my new horse.
"Oh, dear. The man said we can use his trailer. Let's get this boy home."
